Undeniable Chapter 2

A story about a girl who just couldn't help it. Even if she want too.
English went pretty much like any other day. Three guys passed me notes asking me out on a date. I smiled and shook said my head no to each of them. Rachel rolled her eyes. At least once a week each and everyone of these guys would try to ask me out. By time the fourth note landed on my desk, Ms. White figured out was going on.

"Hand it over," she said leaving our lesson on A Tale of Two Cities momentarily. Before I got up, I switched the note with another. I stuffed the real note into my pocket. I always had a note ready because this happened way to often. I got up and could feel the eyes on my back. David, the one who had past the note to me whispered "Damn it,". I handed her over the note and she read it out to the class.

"Hey, Jo. Can you please help me during lunch today. I don't get any of it. And I don't think White likes me very much. I don't want to bother her. She already has enough on her plate with everyone else asking her for help."

White looked up from the note and smiled. "Who wrote this?" People snickered in the class as David hand raised. His face showed utter confusion. "David don't worry about me. You can come ask for help anytime. What's your lunch period."

"Fifth," he said looking at me as if to say, that's not what I wrote. Before White could say anything I chimed in. "It's okay, I owe him after he helped me in Spanish." White shrugged and went back to the board while I went back to my seat.

I sat back down when Rachel asked "What did the note actually say."

I laughed. "Let's find out." I opened the real note and read it. " Sexy Jojo. You know I find you irresistible. Wanna go c a movie tonight. Maybe do something else later." I nearly busted out laughing. I handed it over to Rachel. She managed to hold in her laughter.

"How do you do it. I've wondered the three years I've known you."

"Do what? Switch the notes. Well lots of practice." I said whispering back to her, noticing White was looking in our direction.

"No, how to you get these guys. I mean I look good." I laughed and Ms. White looked in our direction again.

"Be quiet. You are in class, now act like it." She went back to her lesson, asking what is the significance of light in the story.

I didn't answer Rachel's question. Not really because of White, but I really had to think about it. When the bell finally rang I packed up and turned to Rachel. "I really don't know. About the guys thing I mean."

"I figured," She said grabbing her bag filled with every kind of makeup imaginable. David walked over to me and put his arm on my shoulder.

"How did you do that Jojo. Seriously, you saved my life." He laughed and swung me to face him. "Well it doesn't really matter. So how 'bout that date. Or we can do that lunch date thing."

"No thank you," I said. David was pretty big, being one of those football types but I easily pushed past him. Rachel walked ahead knowing I could handle myself.

"Come on, don't do be such a tease," he said leaning into me.

I shoved him hard. "Shut up or I'll start a rumor about how you have herpes." I laughed a little to evil in his face and he took a step back.

"No one would believe you." His face showed otherwise.

"Wanna bet," I said as I walked away. Rachel shook her head from a few feet away and David mumbled something under his breath as he walked away in the opposite direction. "Now I'm gonna be late for History."

"Just say you have the dot. Works every time," Rachel said trying to help. "Gotta go. I gotta change for gym."

I waved bye to her as I walked to History.

"So here's the scoop on the new guy," Felicity said while we all sat together during lunch. "He's a Drama major, a junior and today is his first day. His --."

Rachel cut her off. "Wait, how can he be in our school if he's an incoming junior. That doesn't make sense."

"I probably know why. He's one of those big time rich boys. His Dad paid his way in here." I swirled the mysterious meat on the tray.

"Paid his way to get into a public school?" Rachel said dumbfounded.

"How do you know that Jo. I thought you had no interest in this new guy." Felicity said. I could tell by her face she was marking something on the list in her head.

"I don't. I just heard him talking to Mitchum."

Felicity shrugged her shoulders. "Well Jo's right. His father did pay his way in here, but I don't know who his father is. But anyway. His name is Dion. He's moved here from small town in the middle of the country. I'm guessing his father owns some, like, huge factory there."

"A country boy, huh," Rachel said, her eyes shining.

"No," I said annoyed. "Just some rich guy. He did not have one of those country accents." Felicity nodded in a agreement. She looked back down at her list. "Well I don't really care because I call dibs." She looked up and smiled but I stared at her.

"No," I said calmly. Felicity gave me a shocked look while Rachel and Maggie lowered their heads.

"What?" Felicity asked confused.

"No, you have no dibs." I went back to stabbing the food on my tray.

"You can't just tell me not to... Oh. I get it. Because you have dibs." Felicity smiled while my jaw dropped. "Well you should have just said that. I knew it in the back of my mind anyway." She wrote something on her list.

"No," I said losing my calm. "I do not have dibs it's just... just..." I tried to think of why I didn't want her to have him. "I just don't trust him." And that was honestly true. He didn't seem right to me. Something was off. And I definitely didn't want him around my girls.

Maggie snickered and Rachel rolled her eyes. "Right," Felicity said, squinting her eyes. "Awww. Finally Jo actually likes a guy, but refuses to believe it." Felicity wrote something else on her list.

"Believe what you want Fel. Anyway, I have to go do some work in the library. I'll see you guys later." I stood up and watched out of the corner of my eye as almost all the guys in the room watched my movements. "Bye," they all said together. I walked out of there quickly, but slow enough to still look calm.

In the library, I took a seat in the very back where I wouldn't be seen or bothered by anyone. I pulled out my ipod and hit shuffle. I know lying to your friends is a bad idea, even when it's about going to study, but they were getting really annoying. If that meant ignoring them for a little while, they could live. Without realizing, I felt my head drooping and my eyes closing shut. Suddenly I heard a loud bang. Bolting up I looked around to find a freshman boy picking up a book off the ground. He placed it back on the shelf and turned to face me.

"Sorry," he squeaked and hurried away. I checked my watch and nearly jumped out of the chair. I had slept in there for a whole forty minute period. I just missed my chorus and I knew I would hear it from Mrs. Shyller tomorrow.

I took my time getting back upstairs and made it just in time for seventh period. Mr. Sanders turned around from writing a math equation on the board and watched me take a seat. I took my seat in the back and ignored his stares. No one else in the class seemed to notice our little scene, probably because it happened everyday.

After I take my seat and stare him down, Sanders finally goes back to righting the aim. "Class, today I just want you to work with partners while I check your homework and your tests from last week."

"Slacker," someone coughed on the other side of the room, but Sanders ignored him. "Pass up your work." I rummaged through my bag and pulled out the homework and handed it to Laura, the freshman, who was so smart that she passed everyone and was now in the junior math class. She turned to grab the homework and waved at me. I gave her my best cheesy fake smile and looked back up at Sanders.

"Everyone, please answer all the questions," Sanders said as he went through each aisles and handed out the worksheet. He stopped at my desks and slammed the paper down. "Who sits next to you," he said, looking at the empty seat beside me.

"No one," I said steely.

"Well, you'll work alone then." He walked away and went back up to the board. Deciding to immerse myself into the work I didn't notice someone new walk into the room until Sanders yelled. "We have a new student in class today."

I already knew who it was without him announcing a name. "Mr. Dion Cohen, can you please find a seat." Without even looking up I knew he would sit next to me. It was the only empty seat left. I looked up at him, keeping eye contact. I didn't need him assuming that I was scared of him.

"Hi," I said, cordially but he only took his seat and ignored me. I didn't know how to react. That had never happened to me before. If I said hi to you, you had to say hi to me. Who did he think he was. "Rich boy has no manners huh?" I asked, as I watched him get comfortable in the seat. His strong features only loosened at my remark.

"Popular girl doesn't like to be ignored huh?" He replied and bursts into laughter. Than, as if he hadn't just said something, ignores me again. I could feel myself seething in my seat.

Without looking my way, Dion asked, "Can I see the worksheet. You know, since we have work to do." If he wanted to be that way, I could do the same. Without looking up from my nails, I passed it to him.

"You can have it. I'm done anyway. Next time, get to class on time." I mock his laugh and thankfully the bell rings. I grabbed my things and stood up with my head held high. Without looking Dion's way, I walked out of the room.
