Unable to Release Abducted Germans, Mafia-ruled Somaliland faces Rebellion in Sanaag
Under the pretext of finding and releasing a German man and his wife, who were kidnapped by Somali pirates on June 23, military units of Somaliland invaded Laasqoray, the main harbour of the autonomous state of Maakhir in the northern Somali province of Sanaag, on July 9.

Despite of being reviled by the indigenous populations, the Mafia soldiers of tyrant Rayale did their best to locate the whereabouts of the German couple; but they failed. In addition, they even triggered massive demonstrations against the breakaway state which is ruled by the miiserable gang of renegades around tyrant Rayale of Hargeisa.

Somaliland’s Mafia authorities and their gangsters, who impersonate a supposed ‘national’ army, are able only to prolong for a while the political survival of the loathed dictator and his omnipotent wife, Huda Barkhad, who stands accused for incredible stories of embezzlement and fraud.

Detested Rayale and Huda locked in their Castle

Hargeisa’s Cursed Couple do not move outside their castle, as their security cannot be guaranteed, due to arm proliferation among the Somali tribes who have been engulfed without their will in the breakaway state – subservient of Abyssinia, the cruel and racist hereditary enemy of Somalia.

Among all the Somali tribes Somaliland, the Isaaq (ca. 2,100,000 people), the Gadabursi and the Isa (ca. 300,000 people), the Dhulbahante and the Warsangeli (ca. 450,000 people), the Gaboyo and the Yibir (ca. 150,000 people), the quasi-totality of the population deeply loath and fully reject the ruling couple that turned the secessionist, unrecognized and illegal state into a puppet of the Amhara and Tigray Monophysitic Abyssinian tyranny.

After it was made clear that Somaliland’s existence, in the past thought as eventually positive, served only the racist and odious targets of the barbaric Abyssinian state, only part of Rayale’s staff (the Mafia low level gangsters and thugs) remained loyal to the Hargeisa butcher and his dictatorial, voluminous mistress.

Evident Impossibility to Deliver

However, the evident impossibility of the Mafia authorities of Somaliland to deliver in the case of the abducted German couple only highlights the tragic failure of the Hargeisa criminal pseudo-authorities, who dare demand formal recognition for their unrecognized territory of corruption, fraud, high treason, and total chaos.

Contrarily to the inefficient and predestined to doom military efforts of the loathed ‘authorities’ of Somaliland, what has a chance to speed the release process of the German couple is a friendly voice, like that of the ‘Somali communities in Scandinavia that originate from Maakhir State’; they issued a Statement that places the unfortunate development within its correct context, namely that of the preservation of Sanaag’s historical reputation as a traveler-friendly land of peace and hospitality.

An insightful report about the latest developments has been published in the leading Somali portal Qaeanimo; I republish it integrally, along with the Statement issued by the Somali communities in Scandinavia that originate from Maakhir State, joining them in calling for immediate release of the German couple.

Anti-Somaliland Protest in Sanaag

http://www.qaranimo.com/2008/july/anti_somaliland_protest_july_16_08.htm

Wednesday, July 16 - Erigavo, Somalia - Hundreds of protestors gathered together in the region of Sanaag, in northern Somalia, to protest against the separatist republic of Somaliland, Radio Garowe reported Tuesday.

The protestors, including students and women activists, carried placards expressing their messages, from supporting peace in Sanaag to condemnation of Somaliland's aggressive policies in the region.

The demonstrators walked up and down the streets of Badhan, a town in the eastern part of Sanaag.

The region is disputed between breakaway Somaliland and the semiautonomous state of Puntland, located at Somalia's northeastern tip. The two rival sub-states have fought several times in Sool and Sanaag regions since 2002.

Last week, Somaliland forces briefly seized control of Las Qorey, a small port town along the Sanaag coast, before withdrawing voluntarily.

Also on Tuesday, Sanaag clan elders met privately with Puntland government officials in the Gulf of Aden port of Bossaso.

The elders urged the Puntland officials, including Security Minister Abdullahi Said Samatar, to improve the region's security and to "always work with the elders," according to a source.

Meanwhile, a German man and his wife who were kidnapped by Somali pirates on June 23 are still being held hostage somewhere in Sanaag region.

Concerning: The kidnapping of the German Family in Maakhir State

The 27thof June 2008

To: Authorities in Maakhir region

To: Elders and Civic Community Organizations in the region

Concerning: The kidnapping of the German Family in Maakhir State

On behalf of the Somali communities in Scandinavia that originate from Maakhir State, we strongly condemn the kidnapping of the German tourist family that few days ago took place closer to the ancient historic coastal city of Laasqoray.

We strongly reject this primitive action possibly conducted by political agents that intend to discredit and disrupt the various community projects that succeeded and due to be implemented in the region in the near future.

We hereby urge respectful community leaders, intellectuals and other civil society groups to urgently do whatever possible to solve the crisis. The global media reported this event. That means if the kidnapping continues, it will negatively affect not only the image of the region but the trust and support from Diaspora and the international community. Although Maakhir state attracts lesser attention aid and investment, the region enjoys tranquil peace and local social engineering, development and consensus.

We want this valuable reputation to be preserved and defended.
