Ultrasonic Liposuction

Ultrasonic liposuction is the advanced technology used for removing excess fat deposit, hence improving body's contour. Here's more information about ultrasonic liposuction.
You might have tried a number of things to get rid of that double chin or belly fat, but all in vain! Well, by now you are sure that exercises and diet are not working for this section of fat. It's time to look at the other options to get rid of this body fat. That's when you can think of ultrasonic liposuction, for the fat, which is hard to treat even using the normal liposuction techniques! In this type of liposuction, fat inside a specific body part is liquefied using high pitched sound waves, before it is sucked out.

The Procedure

There are basically two types of procedures - internal and external. In internal liposuction, the cannula (hollow needle used for fat suction), that is designed to transmit the ultrasound waves into the body fat, is inserted into the desired place, moved around, and the fat is broken up. The cannula glides into the tissue and makes large holes, required to use the large instrument. In external liposuction, a separate machine such as a chiropractor is used. Placed on the skin surface, it helps the cannula go into the fat easily, and helps break up the fat. Today, mostly internal procedure is performed to vacuum the fat out. Basically, it is essential to turn fat into liquid because it makes the extraction procedure easier. Moreover, some areas have dense fat where normal liposuction doesn't work and liquefying becomes essential, hence, this type of liposuction is used.

Advantages

The primary advantage is that it leads to less tissue damage, hence, less bleeding. Moreover, this procedure ensures that large volume of fat is removed, even from dense fat areas. It is known to give exceptional body contouring results. Liposuction recovery period in ultrasonic method is known to be lesser, as compared to that in case of other liposuction procedures.

Possible Risks

Along with the advantages, there are also a few risks associated with this procedure. One of the common risks is that of skin burns. The patient's tissues are heated due to the ultrasonic waves, which can lead to burns or tissue damage, if the procedure is not performed carefully. Moreover, the waves can also heighten the temperature of blood vessels on your skin surface, leading to blood clots. Creation of pockets called seroma, filled with fluid or serum is possible. While these usually drain off on their own, in some cases, fluid might have to be drained out several times using additional surgeries. Nerve injury during the liposuction procedure can also cause prolonged numbness in the operated area.

Total Cost

Well, if you are planning to opt for one, you would like to consider the cost factor. The cost will actually depend on non-surgical and surgical fees together. Non-surgical fee consists of the pre-operative laboratory tests, operating room, nursing staff, post-operative compression garments and supplies charges. The surgical fees will consist of the total of the fees of the surgery, for each area to be worked on. This factor of cost can further vary according to the amount of fat deposit, which will be different in case of each individual.

If you are planning to have ultrasonic liposuction surgery done, then you must consult a reputed cosmetic surgeon. Discuss with him/her the possible complications, advantages and liposuction alternatives before you opt for it.
