Two Star - Crossed Lovers Lost Forever

Two friends they were, two very good friends
Always together playing, always by one another’s side
As they grew closer, and as they grew older
Their closeness began to show
They moved from friends to lovers as their love changed
But as they grew closer one of the lovers said,
That it couldn’t be forever and ever
Because the love was somehow not true
So the other one fled from this 'false love'
And seeked refuge elsewhere far away
The lover that fled got the cold shoulder
and for months to come no explanation was given
But eventually the truth later came out
That the lover had been lying about the love being untrue
It came out that it was true love, it was nothing less
By which point the other lover was confused
After some heart-breaks and troubled times
The other lover asked to reunite their love
But sadly, the return was unwanted
So they lived their separate lives
They went off on their separate paths
And to this day they still have separate lives
And barely speak at all
The other lover tried keeping the friendship
But that idea appeared to be rejected.
As they see each other once a year
and their meetings are false, fake friends
No one knows if their paths will ever meet again
Possibly in the long distant future
But not before hairs are grey and prayers are uttered
Because it will take more than hope for them to reunite
