Two Lives, One Friendship, No Regrets - vii. (contd)

They are two friends. Nothing more, really. Should she give in to her moment of weakness, or keep playing it safe?
What was she thinking, she asked herself. Of course it wasn't Ryan she was upset over...

When she stepped into Phoenix's townhouse she never expected jealousy to flash in every corner of her mind. He was allowed to befriend or play boyfriend to some girl- even if it was one of her friends.

For someone who was focused on his career she was surprised that he finally decided he needed a girlfriend to stake claim on him permanently. Georgia had been so used to being the stable girlfriend in his life, that she felt a pang of sadness in her heart. Was she jumping the gun? She didn't even know if they were official or anything.

At any rate, just to be fair she had always given him the space he needed when he was attached. She always put aside the thought that he could complete her puzzle. He never showed he loved her in the way she had quietly hoped all these long years. This was why she persuaded herself to try looking elsewhere and ignore the mischievous thoughts that wanted to mess with their friendship.

Someone else could fill the spot, she would convince herself every now and then.

When Ryan came along she thought it was the perfect opportunity. But that didn't work out and now, she finally felt the warmth of Phoenix's embrace (after many many years of dreaming about it) and it left nothing but a hollowness inside because it was out of comfort and possibly even pity.

Giving into her moment of weakness she let her heartache and even a few times she forgot to take breaths. She didn't know who to turn to anymore - at least not with this information.

So, she turned her laptop on, streamed her favorite playlist, and blogged one thought:

"Just because one doesn't see themselves married in the future does not mean one doesn't quietly wish to be swept away..."

If he knew, would he have chosen me? She asked the dark shadows that were creeping into her mind.

While packing an overnight bag, she made a few calls and found herself on a bus headed to Niagara. A weekend trip alone would help, she thought. Maybe then she could force her feelings back into the box and seal them up again.
