Two Lives, One Friendship, No Regrets - vi
They are two friends. Nothing more, really. She finally gives in to leaning on her friend.
"Hey Georgia," Phoenix answered, "How was the other night?"
The other line was quiet.
"You alright?"
"Hi…" her voice whispered.
"Hi yourself…"
His brows furrowed. He wasn't Sherlock Holmes or anything, but something obviously wasn't right.
"Are you busy?" She asked unsure.
"I’m not anymore…" he answered fully alert as he tried to prepare himself.
"Did you eat yet?" Ok, he wasn't prepared for that.
"Did you?" He asked back.
"Yeah, ham and eggs… with rice," she answered with a smile. That's more like it, he thought.
"I went to Jan’s Diner to get some eggs, bacon and frites. Just got home," he shared.
"If you keep that up you’ll have a heart attack before you’re thirty!" she chided him.
That wasn’t any different from what she would normally say.
"She tells me this after she says she’s eaten ham and eggs," he joked.
"At least I won't be poor. You're always eating out!"
"Maybe you should come here every morning and make me breakfast."
She scoffed, "I have a lif-" she stopped herself short.
"Life. I know," he mocked her.
Silence.
Soberly he asks, "What’s up, Gi? You ok?"
Something definitely was wrong.
