Two Lives, One Friendship, No Regrets - v. (cont'd)

They are two friends. Nothing more, really. She shuts him out just when she needs him the most.
Usually by the third or fourth date you would know if the guy is right for you. Isn't that right?
Then why did she feel like she still didn't know enough about Ryan?

It turned out he was holding onto important information.
Turns out her intuition was right. Her Ryan turned out to the species of man women dreaded contact with; the sleaze.

"What do you mean you didn't know?!" An angry woman exclaimed at the other end of the line.
"I really didn't think he was married and he didn't mention anything about you."
The woman scoffed.
Georgia cleared her throat, trying to compose herself.
"I just want to let you know that NOTHING happened between us. I'm sorry about you getting hurt, but I honestly didn't know. We went on three dinner dates and that was it."

The woman was silent on the line for a little bit.

"Just stay away from my husband!"
Is all the woman said before she hung up.

Georgia couldn't believe that in the span of a week her luck would change. She knew there was some kind of catch. Relationships never did come by so easily in her experience.

Her face flushed with humiliation. She felt like the whole world was privy to that telephone conversation.

Her automatic reaction was to grab her cell phone and call Phoenix. She needed a soothing voice to tell her that she did nothing wrong. But just as quick as she grabbed her lifeline that was her cell phone, she put it down. She couldn't and wouldn't allow herself to become a nuisance to Phoenix. Not after all those times she canceled her evenings with him just for the sleaze.

Instead, she shut all the lights off and cried herself to sleep.
