Two lives, One friendship, No regrets - iii. (contd)
They are two friends. Nothing more, really.
A night on the town was what they would get. The kicks that were waiting to be had when reunited with their bunch of friends made things all more exciting.
Well that was the plan anyway.
"Are you ready yet?" He asked Georgia from behind the door.
"Almost."
"How are we supposed to be dressed?"
"I don’t think anything was really said about it," she answered as she stepped out of the bedroom in a simple black dress and pink cardigan.
"It’s easier for women to arrive looking safe for each occasion. Dresses were invented for such times, I’m almost sure of it!"
She laughed at his ridiculousness.
"What you’re wearing is safe enough. Since when do you care about fitting in with the attire, anyway."
"Well I don’t want to walk in there looking like the bum I was twelve years ago!"
"You look fine! Believe me. Your dressing has improved 90%!"
"How much was I back then?"
"10%?"
"Ugh!" She laughed at him.
"What? Its true!"
"Ok fine. Not like you were any better-"
"Let’s not go there," she glared at him.
"Ok let’s go then," he lead the way out of her place.
"Tomorrow I’m going to the pound to get me a puppy. One that’ll grow to be tall, and large."
"Why? What do you need a dog for?"
"To bully you when you nag and pick on me."
He scoffed, "and how would you take care of this dog?"
"How else do you take care of a dog?!"
"Never mind."
The drive to the restaurant was pretty quiet. It wasn’t until they got to the venue that either one of them spoke. It was Georgia who was approached first by one of their closest classmates. Another one had joined Phoenix and had begun a lengthy conversation about the latest sports news.
Meanwhile Georgia was being grilled by her friend, Fresca about whether she and Phoenix were finally together.
Georgia vehemently denied the assumptions and noticed the spark of interest change a bit in Fresca’s eyes as they swept to Phoenix’s direction. Almost like she didn’t want to be too obvious about the object of her affection.
Interesting, Georgia thought. And tucked away that revelation for a later time.
