Two Lives, One Friendship, No Regrets - i

They are two friends. Nothing more, really.
The cool autumn evening sky was shining brightly with stars.

Looking over at her companion she whispered, "Close your eyes."

When her friend just sat there unmoving, she leaned over him to place a hand on each cheek. As she stared into his confused eyes, his arched eyebrow slowly lowered.

"Close your eyes," she instructed again. "Lean back and feel the cool breeze against your skin. Doesn’t it feel good?"

When she saw his face relax a bit, she shifted back into her position against the windshield of his car; they were both sitting on the hood of his car staring up.

"What do you picture when you close your eyes, Gi?" he asked.
"If I told you, I’d have to kill you," she said seriously.
He raised his eyebrow again, "that bad huh?"
"I don’t know what you mean, but it’s that good. Not worth sharing, though. I’m just trying to help you find some peace in that stress-filled mind of yours."
"Thanks Gi, but it doesn’t work on me. My mind is too stubborn for things like this."
"Then why do you come with me if you don’t even enjoy the things I like? You could suggest other things you know; I wouldn’t be offended."
"It’s all about getting out of the office. I can’t pass the chance to have an excuse to procrastinate."
"You work too hard," she said a hint of concern around the edges.
"I know," he said simply.

They sat there looking at each other; she was the first to look away. Leaning back against the cool glass of the windshield she raised her head towards the sky, caught a star in her gaze, squeezed her eyes shut and quietly made a wish.
