Akira grimaced as her birthmark started to burn again. "My name is Akira." The man released her arm and the two strangers began to immerse themselves in a secret conversation.

"You will stay here and not try to escape. Is that understood?"

The woman grabbed her arm and Akira felt something surge up her arm and through her body. She yanked her arm away and sent back a surge of her own power. The woman shrieked and fell to the ground. Her eyes stared daggers at her as she stood up and stormed out of the room. The man stood a hand over his mouth as he tried to hide a snicker.

"We'll see you soon princess." He began to make his way to the door.

"I'd prefer you not call me that. My name is Akira. I told you that." Akira tried to look stubborn and calm but the man just smirked. "It's what you are. You might as well get used to it. Princess."

With those last words he closed the door and left her shocked and confused. When 10 minutes had passed Akira got out of bed and looked down at her skin. Her heart started to race as she saw that her skin was pale white and shimmering. She looked around the room and noticed a mirror. She walked over and took a deep breath before standing in front of it.

"What the hell!" Her hair was no longer dirty blonde but an onyx black. Her eyes were an unearthly shade of purple and blue and her ears were slightly pointed. "What's wrong with me?" She started to panic as she fell to her knees in distress. Clutching her now throbbing head she began to sob. The ground began to shake and the mirror fell shattering into a thousand pieces around her. The door behind her was thrown into the wall as the man came rushing in with a look of determination.

"What have you done?" He ran over to her and dragged her to her feet forcing her to look into his eyes. "You must calm down before you kill us all." He let out a frustrated breath and grabbed her head in his hands. "Akira, you have to stop this." Something in Akira snapped and her legs turned to jelly and she fell into his strong and steady arms. He lifted her up and gently laid her on the bed where she fell asleep almost instantly. The woman entered the room with a worried look on her face.

"Is she alright?" She joined him in watching her sleep and she frowned. "She released a lot of emotional magic there. Why?" He sighed and turned to look at the mirror that was now shattered. "Maybe she saw something she didn't like." The woman laughed. "She is beautiful. I almost envy her." She said with a quick sneer. "Why would something so lovely create this mess." She gestured around the room at the broken chairs and shattered mirror.

"She has lived in the mortal world for her whole life Drea." He bent down and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "Seeing herself change so rapidly... It must've been hard on her. Seeing a complete stranger in the mirror that was actually your true self." Drea pursed her lips in thought.

"Feeling a bit emotional are we?"

He chuckled and turned around. "Not in a very long time Drea. You know our kind doesn't feel emotions. We're emotionless incapable of loving anyone other than ourselves."

Drea pouted her unpainted lips at him. "Do you always have to remind me my darling." She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek.

"Watch her and make sure when she wakes up, she doesn't create another earthquake." She escorted herself out of the room and he chose a chair that was untouched by the quake. He situated himself until he felt comfortable and leaned back watching as she slowly inhaled and exhaled. Her cheeks were touched by the merest of pink and her lips were full and red but naturally. A light array of freckles spread over her short button nose and her lashes were long and black. Something stirred in his chest and he cringed and rubbed it. What are you doing to me? He wondered as she dozed dreaming of a time where she was safe and the world made sense. He let his head drop backwards and he closed his jade eyes. Sleep didn't seem like such a bad idea.
