Twin Demons - Chapters 2 and 3

Two hunters that have a bond that can never die or be killed.
Chapter 2
- A childhood memory

The girls knew they weren't supposed to be playing in the dam, but they just couldn't resist.
The water looked so clear and inviting. Every time Samantha Martin came over to Madison Martin's house, no matter what the weather was like or what Madison's mother told them, they always went into the dam. There was a small raft Mad made with her father when she was young, she loved to go on it and steer it around the water. She loved to be the leader, the skipper while Sam stayed in the back and steered the boat wherever Mad ordered.

There was a little island on the other side of the creek that could only be reached by boat. They would always go to that island and look for buried treasure that's deep within the mud. They also had to watch out for the evil monster lurking deep under the water. It was the evil eel and if you ever had your legs dangling out of the boat in the water, it would tear them right off.
The day that the girls set for their adventure was on a Saturday. It was cold, so cold that the water would freeze you to death if you were unlucky enough to fall in.
Mad was at the front of the boat shouting orders and her crew.

"Come about Sam-star!!"
"Why do we always have to do what you want?"
Mad shot her an evil look. "Because I'm the oldest! Now steer little cous!"
Both the cousins made their way to the little Island right off the dam's shore. The bridge you needed to cross to get to Mad's house was overlapping the island, but like I said the only way to get there was by boat.

They jumped out of the boat and landed on the solid ground. The mud was a little while up and Mad began to remove her sandals and explore the strange place, while Sam was too busy eying a hive of bees' right next to the island. Mad saw this and began to shout at her.
"Come on sailor!"
Sam saw what Mad was about to do and began to get worried. "Mad, it's bad enough we went in the boat but if Aunt Lisa finds out we were in the mud..."
Ash shrouded at the thought of how much trouble they would be in. Aunt Lisa is very strict and yells at mad for nearly anything she does. It's fair to say that Sam was terrified of her.

"Calm down little cous, she'll never know. Now we need to find that treasure!"
Mad dived in and began to explore. Her feet were soaked in the brown gooey mud and it was continuing to rise and she moved further and further down. Sam gulped but kicked off her shoes, took one last look at the house, and joined her cousin in the mud. They searched for a long time to find that treasure. Mad even went far enough to start to sink and they had to escape before they got captured by the evil eel that lay beneath the water.
"We better go!" Sam yelled.

They both jumped into the boat and Mad started to paddle fiercely while this time Sam sat at the front and pointed into the direction they were heading. They were about half way to shore when something knocked the boat. And no it wasn't a monster; it was the wind from the icy cold weather they had today. A bad day to go in the boat.
It rocked the boat just enough to make them both nearly fall off and land in the water with the evil eel. Mad tried to paddle faster and they were nearly there. Sam kept pushing her to go faster and that they were so close. Another huge gush of wind came past and that's when little Samantha, age 9, fell into the freezing water.

It hit her face like a slap. And she stayed under long enough to travel under the boat. She tried to reach the water's surface, she kicked as hard as she could and managed to swim to the top. The water was deep and she was worried about the evil eel that would come and eat her legs. As soon as she breathed the air she wrapped her hands around a small tree branch to keep herself afloat. Mad found her little cousin and began to steer the boat towards her against the wind. Right before Mad got to Sam the wind and the current started to take her the other way, they were running out of time.

Mad reached her hand out to Sam who was crying on the tree branch half her torso was buried in the freezing water.
"Grab my hand!"
Sam shook her head. She thought it was too dangerous to try to reach. What if Mad didn't grab her in time? What if she fell under the water again and drowned? She just wanted to stay on her tree branch where she was safe from dyeing.
Then a strange thing happened. The cousins both shared a look, they connected in a way. Their eyes locking on each other.
"Trust me" Mad whispered.

Sam started to shake her head but then looked at Mad's pleading face, her eyes and knew what she had to do. She let go of the branch and reached for her cousin's hand. They locked hands and Mad pulled Sam up to the boat to safety.
"Help me steer!" Mad shouted to Sam while handing her an oar.
Both the girls paddled the boat to the shore and hopped out onto the safe land. Mad pulled the boat out of the water and tied it to the little dock so it wouldn't be pulled away by the wind.
Both the girls then ran up to the house where Madison's mother would be waiting. Sam was about to unlock the gate and go through the front way until Mad stopped her.

"Are you crazy? Look at our feet"
Sam did and they were still covered in mud and Sam was drenched from falling into the dam. Madison's mum would kill them both. So they headed towards the back way and would sneak in without being noticed.
Mad unlocked the back gate and put her sandals back on because the back way had hard spiky ground they needed to cross.
"Oh uh" Sam mumbled. "I forgot my shoes."
"We'll get them later, for now use mine" Mad handed both her sandals to Sam and she put them on.
"What about you" Sam asked.
"I'll be fine"

They began to walk across the hard ground. Mad leading the way and hurting with every step she took, Sam felt bad and kept offering her the shoes but Mad kept insisting that she needed them more because she was still young.
Sam always hated it when Mad called her young, she was only three years younger than Mad.
They reached the house and ran through to the bathroom. Sam slipped on the tile floor on their way there and Mad helped her up and put her in the bath. She covered Sam's shivering body with a warm blanket and went to make her a hot chocolate.
"Madison what are you doing?" Sam could hear the sound of Aunt Lisa calling her only child from upstairs. Thank god they haven't spotted them.
Mad put the hot chocolate in the microwave and called upstairs to her parents. "Making Sam a hot chocolate!"

As soon as it was done she brought it into her little cousin and while Sam sipped it Mad was drying her off with the towel.
"Thanks for helping me back there Mad"
Mad looked up and ruffled Sam's hair playfully.
"I'll always look after you, little cousin"

Chapter 3
Two cousins are hunters, but they don't hunt animals.

The girl wore a dark hoddie over her head that covered most of her face. The other half of her face was shadowed in darkness with the reflection of the moon and the dark cold night that lay before her. She was walking through the abandon park; all the children would be tucked away in bed at this very late hour, so she was in fact alone. Or so she thought.
You could tell by her breathing and her side way glances around her that she could feel she was being watched, being followed. Of course most girls who think that eventually realize that they're being paranoid and continue walking, but you notice that their steps get a little faster.

She was right. Five things were watching her, very carefully. Each and every one of them measuring the sounds of her steps, taking in the scent of her perfume that she wore on a late night. Listening to her heartbeat going faster and faster as she grew more frightened. There's nothing better than the hot taste of blood from a woman on a cold night. No one to hear her screams, not having to worry what to do with the body. It was the perfect feeding ground for these creatures and this poor woman would be the next victim.
As soon as they have the scent they never let go of it. They hang on to it for days, weeks, months, even years until the victim is dead. It would be personal hell for the vampire to hang on to the scent. That's why they never let go of a hunt, ever.
The girl pulled her hood closer around her head to hide her already hidden face. She pushed her hands down in her pockets to keep warm, even though her blood was already speeding through her veins.

The vampires sensed it and then followed her around the bend of the car park, acting like normal men following a young girl.
She noticed this and began to walk faster, down the frosty night, she was right about to leave the car park and head toward the rest of the town until a shadow appeared in front of her.
The girl was startled to see one of the bloodsuckers standing in front of her, staring at her like she was a piece of meat.
"Where are you off to in such a hurry?" It's voice was as cold as ice, completely flat with no feeling deep within its throat.

The girl turned the other way to leave but the vampires were quicker. She was cornered in from all around, all of them staring at her and taking in the sight of their next meal.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing out this late on such a cold night?" One of them asked her. It's voice was the same as the others, dead and cold. The girl gulped and stared at each of the things, would anyone hear her screams? Would they file a missing persons report and never find her body? Will her family never know what happened to her? Never have any closure?
The vampire could sense her thoughts; the more afraid the victim is the more her mind becomes clear for their last thoughts before they die. Hers was more tasteful and made a smile appear across the fangs that were beginning to grow.
The girl took a few deep breaths before speaking in a shivering voice, her dark jacket still covering her face. "I...I was just...heading home... sir."

The vampires shared a look of triumph. The girl was scared, that much was true and obvious. It's not enough to kill and drink the hot steamy blood of the victim; they had to scare them too. Apparently it taste better with a side of terrified.

"Then we'll have to help you find your way back home, now won't we?"
She looked deep into his bright red eyes, full of hunger and longing for her blood down his throat. He had to act soon if he wanted to get rid of this burning, the others knew just as well.
"No thank you sir, I'll be ok." The girl turned to leave but one of the other men was blocking her path. They surrounded her like a statue at an art museum, nowhere to run, completely trapped until someone lets her out.

"But a young girl like you shouldn't be out here alone, on such a cold night and all."
One of the men grabbed her from behind with unbearable strength; he lifted her up so she was facing the others. She started to kick and order them to let go. What she didn't realize is that there was no letting go, once they have the scent they finish the hunt no matter what. He pinned her to the ground so the men could devour her from above. The leader of course goes first and bends down to cover the screaming girl. The men were jumping up and down excitedly for some hot tasty blood to finally enter their throats.

The girl was screaming hard and the man was beginning to get annoyed at the sound of her puny voice ringing in his ears. He covered her mouth with his cold blooded hand
"Scream all you want, no one's gonna hear ya" The man laughed as he bent down to stick his white fangs into her lovely steamy neck filled with nothing but blood pumping through the veins with nowhere to go but straight into his mouth.
Then a sound flapped through the air quite suddenly. It came for about half a second and then disappeared. The Cold Bloods were confused as to what the noise was, until they looked at one of their companions and a look of shock and horror crossed their faces. The vampire was scared as to what they were all looking at, until he slowly looked down and saw a wooden stake firmly planted through his heart. He knew it was the end for him and just before he turned into a million tiny pieces of darkness, he sighed.

The vampire that was holding the girl down had let go from the shock, giving the girl enough time to jump up to her feet in one quick fluid motion. The vampires looked her way with a blooded face and saw her hand grab the top of her dark hoddie and pull it down to revel long brown wavy hair to fall down her back as she shook it loose. She pulled out a long hatchet that was buried deep within her black jeans and a wooden stake deep within her jacket.
She looked at all of their stunned expressions and smiled.
"Howdy boys, my names Sam and I'm gonna be your server tonight."
They all growled from deep within their chest. At first it was a warning growl, giving her a chance to back off and run for her life. But as she laughed and gave a wicked smile the growl and their stance turned into full attack mode.

The leader of the Cold Bloods laughed at the tiny girl. "You really think you can take all of us on your own?"
The whole vampire clan laughed and relaxed their stances a little.
Sam raised a finger to all of them. "First of all, yes I do. And second of all, I'm not all by myself."
The vampires look behind them into the direction Sam was looking; they looked just in time to revile another girl jump down from a tree that was standing in the middle of the parking lot. She jumped down in the same direction the stake came flying from that killed that vampire without a second glance. She looked a lot like Sam, only her hair was a pitch black as well as her clothes. Their faces were covered within in the darkness, but looks didn't interest the vamps. That saying that what's underneath matters, Cold Bloods really take that to heart.

The girl eyed each of the vampires carefully with a cheeky grin spread across her face. "Young boys like you shouldn't be out here alone, on such a cold night and all."
They hissed at her.
Six figures were in the parking lot. Two of them were human, or as close to human as they thought they were, while the others were things, Cold Blooded Vampires. Four were in the middle while the two were on the edges eyeing their movements. None of them moved an inch. Not even a muscle flexed or a breath escaped their lips. It was completely silent. A little like chess, your planning your move and the move after that and the move after that and so on. You just keep staring at each other. Of course if they were about to fight an Ultra it would have played out very differently.
After a while when no one made a move Mad spoke up. "Tell you what; we'll make it a fair fight."

She nodded to Sam who then threw the hatchet to the right and the stake to the left. Mad did the same with her stake. The Vampires thought this over and then showed a stance that let the girls know they were ready to fight for the rights to their blood.
"Two each?" Mad asked her little cousin across the lot.
"Two each." Sam agreed and the vampires lunged.
Two went after Mad, but luckily she still had the tree branch that was hanging down above her. She grabbed onto it and swung herself around so she was on the other side of the Vampires. As soon as they turned around confused one of them received a kick in the face, then a punch, then another kick. It's on the floor and the other one is charging at her.

A punch in its face, a block from a blow, a punch in the stomach, she ducks when the vampire tried to take a swing at her and then kicked it right in the back where it landed on its stomach. The other vampire that she put down before was back up and running at her, Mad readied her fists for another fight.
Sam was on the other side in between two of the Cold Bloods who were eyeing her, question was who was going to make the first move?

The one on her left took a swing and Sam ducked, got back up and punched it right in the face which made it fall to the floor. The other one bared it's fangs at her and a hiss escaped it's mouth. It raised it's hand to hit her across the face, but before it even had a chance it was on the floor with a kick in the stomach. Without even turning around Sam kicked the Vampire behind in the stomach just as it got up again.
The vampire she was facing got up again and prepared to hit her again. But Sam was too quick and ducked from the blow, then rose up again and punched it across the face. She then flipped backwards from the ground and the other vampire got out-of-the-way to join his companion. Sam grabbed the hatchet from the ground and flipped up to face both the vampires who were hissing at the weapon.

She swung the large hatchet in the air just as one of the Vampires charged. She slashed the weapon down that cut right across the Vampire's hand, which came clean off and landed on the floor. The Cold Blood roared in pain so loud that it startled Sam and she dropped the hatchet. She grabbed the shirt of the vampire that lost his hand and pulled him close to her, she kicked the other vampire that was charging up from behind, he then landed on the floor again. The vampire with no hand tried to pull away from her and she had no choice but to kick it in the stomach, she flung it onto the ground and pulled out another wooden stake from her pants and stuck it right through the heart. The body of the Cold Blood turned to dark ashes within seconds.

The other vamp had the hatchet in its grotty hands, it took another swing at her but she ducked in time. She then got back up and kicked it across the face. She then punched it across the mouth twice, grabbed its arm and pulled it so it was standing behind her. She elbowed it in the face and then punched the arm down so it dropped the hatchet on the floor.
Two of the Cold Bloods surrounded Mad, and she smiled to herself about what would happen next. One of them took a swing at her; she ducked and then kicked it across the face and made it fall to the ground. She elbowed the other one in the mouth and then punched it across the face and then kicked it right in the stomach which made it fall back.

She could hear the other one coming up behind her and the vamp in front of her was already getting to its feet. She smiled to herself, and then fell to the ground and skidded around making the vampire behind her lose its balance and fall to the floor. She kicked the other one in the face and then turned around and kicked the one behind her in the chin, which made it twist around and fly across the parking lot.

She grabbed the stake off the ground and ran up to the vamp charging at her. It took a swing at her and she bent down and blocked and then was up in a flash. She punched the stake up and hit the vampire in the face and she then kicked it in the stomach. It flew to the floor and then Mad lifted the stake in the air and pushed it through its cold stone heart.
The other vamp charged at her and she gripped the stake in her hand. She kicked it in the stomach and then flipped it over and pushed it up against the tree with the stake in its heart. One last hiss before it turned to dust.

"And that's how it's done."
Mad began to wipe off all the dust that fell onto her sleeves and pants, it covered every inch of her and she shoved it all onto the ground. She then turned her head and looked at her little cousin fighting off the last of her vampires. Mad smiled and leaned against the tree to observe and not interfere.
Sam kicked the vampires side stomach and then ducked when it was about to punch her across the face. She got up again and punched the vampire in the stomach. Then the Cold Blood grabbed her throat and threw her onto the ground with a slam. Sam struggled to get free and then she kicked the back of its head. It was distracted for only a second but it was enough time for Sam to jump up and kick across its leg so it fell to the hard floor of the car park. She then got the hatchet, as it was the closest to her and staked it's heart and then there was nothing left but dust.

Sam leaned back and took a few deep breaths while Mad walk up to her and collected all the stakes on the ground surrounding the dust that the cold wind was already starting to take away up to the mountains.
"Another one bites the dust." Mad sang her catch phrase every time they killed a vampire. Sam sometimes got annoyed by it, but even if she said that to Mad, she wouldn't stop saying it, not ever.
Sam got off the ground and turned toward her big cousin. Mad smiled at her until she saw some blood on her shirt. Sam looked down at the wound and lifted the shirt to revile a rather bad cut her own hatchet made when the vampire had it in his hands.

For a normal human they would need stitches, but for Sam all she really needed was a towel to wipe up the blood with.
"You ok little cous?" Mad asked as she began to approach her.
"I'm fine Mad. Next time you can be bate."
Mad laughed. "Nah, I'm a sucky actress, you really sold the part with that whole 'I...I was just... heading home... sir'"
Sam shook her head at Mad's attempt to be funny. "They bought it didn't they Miss I'll Shoot Them Before They Even Get close To Your Neck. You had me worried there for a second Mad, I thought I would have to go as close to them tasting my blood."
Mad gave Sam a light pat on the back. "When have I ever let you down Sam-star?"
"Did you seriously just ask me that?"

A nearby police siren went off and Mad groaned to the annoyance. "Some bitch must have heard screaming!"
They both made sure they had everything they needed and then began to run all the way back home. This wasn't the first time they had an encounter with the police, they try to avoid the law as much as possible.
The girls ran into the darkness to head home and escape the police.
