Twilight's Whisper
A longing to be together again.
Lost, it seemed forever,
In a labyrinth of roadways,
I was searching for a lover,
But it seemed, was going no place,
Till she stepped out of the shadows
Of the hallway to the Carvery,
To board a crimson shell
And take the throne of Aphrodite.
Struck then by her beauty
And honoured by her elegance,
I knew there'd be no turning back
From the awe that was her romance,
And later that same evening
When she spread her angel charms,
I knew I'd found a reason
To fall into her arms.
As twilight whispered loving words
Upon a scented breath,
Sweet velvet kisses stole my heart
Beneath the moonlight's crest,
And a myriad of twinkling stars
Sang out their sweet refrain,
A symphony of poetic prose
Softly whispering her name.
I held a raindrop in my hand,
Like a clear and crystal tear,
As we parted from that warm embrace,
Cold loneliness to bear,
I count away the days and hours
Until we meet again,
And I call upon the twilight
To keep whispering her name.
