Trying To Cheat Death!
Death of our loved and dear ones is an experience that is far beyond explanation. It is the hard reality that you have to accept whether you wish to or not. People have the habit to cling on to the last thing hoping that will change the scene, but, alas! Nothing like that happens and the one, who is to die, finally passes away. There is no way to stop death but one alternative that people have found these days is that of home funeral. This is a very different approach from burying or cremating your loved one with traditional funeral home services.
The body of the deceased is taken home washed dressed and kept in the home with cooled ice surrounded by dry ice and open windows. However, it is necessary that the family members wish to do this as it might be adding more to the grief for someone since the presence of the body constantly reminds you of that person being dead.
Whereas some family members consider this to be an opportunity pay last respects to their loved ones and also to still feel their presence after they are gone long back. However, home funeral is legal in only 43 states of U.S. many people have done this previously, for instance, Judy Saul kept her husband, Richard Saul’s body for lot many days after his death surrounded with fresh flowers and burning candles along with the mementos and family photographs.
Another instance was when Pam Howley decided to have home funeral for her daughter who died of brain cancer, while she was only seventeen! Pam simply didn’t want her daughter to be embalmed and so she took this kind of funeral. She had the body of her dear daughter for two days and then finally had her buried.
The experts believe that it is a much more humane way of saying the last goodbye to the loved one and also an alternative healing to the family and friends of the deceased person rather than the standard American way of handling the body of the dead to the mortician for embalming and display during burial or cremation.
However, the choice is absolutely upon you whether to go for traditional funeral home program or to have home funeral. No matter what you do, the sad fact still remains that the loved one has drifted into the unreachable place of no return!
