Trust, The Beginning - Chapter 2
Here's the next one :)
"Scaaar?" Lauren asked sleepily
"Yes?" I answered, just as tired, after all it was about midnight
"When will you write that story again, it was really cool" I considered this for a while, I had forgotten all about that story.
"Um I don't know actually"
"Oh ok" she rolled over on the double bed we were sharing and soft snoring rose from her nose a short while later. I thought about my story, what I was going to write and when. After half an hour of tossing and turning I pulled out my laptop and continued the story.
'Well things have been going frightfully well, with mother gone father has decided he cannot care for me so he has sent me to a finishing school. On the way to the school, Victorias School For Ladies, I fell asleep in the carriage and had another dream, it was of the gardens and oh they were beautiful! lush green grass and trees dripping in blossom, but there was something bad in the air, a sickly smell, underneath the luxurious scent of the blossom, was a metallic smell, it took me a moment to realize what it was, rotting meat.
I held my gloved hand to my mouth and tried to stifle the gag in my throat and continued to walk through the garden, I passed under an intricately carved silver arch, I gaped in awe as fine gold dust floated down when I passed under the arch, I lifted my hands up to my face and stared at the beauty there, I caught my reflection in a strange leaf and was shocked to see the woman staring back at me was beautiful, skin the color of milk, lips as red as cherries, hair the color of chocolate with tiny flecks of gold, eyes as blue as the sky. I spun around and around in circles and watched as my dress changed from a dull traveling gray to a vibrant mahogany, I grinned and continued to twirl around the garden, watching the dress change colors again and again. When at last I got dizzy I flopped to the ground and stared up at the sky, frozen in a permanent sunrise, I watched the clouds float lazily across the sky, turning pink when they came close to the horizon. I blinked my eyes open as Meredith, my nanny, gently shook me.
"Miss, we have arrived"
"Thank you Meredith" she smiled a bitter smile in return, she was a pretty girl, not much older than me, she could have found a very suitable husband but alas, she was doomed by her breeding.'
I yawned, it was 5:30am, I should probably sleep, I turned off my laptop and snuggled down into my covers, within moments colors were seeping into the black of my eyelids, they were dreams and what the dreams told me scared me. First I was flying through skies as blue as a turquoise stone, then I was floating above the Gardens, and there was my mother, like my actual mother.
"Mum!" I called out, she looked up and smiled
"Tell your father I love him" she said, her voice sounded like a harp
"He knows that already" I said, puzzled
"And tell your sister too, Scarlett, come down here" I nodded and floated down to her "Scar honey, I love you and your father and sister more than anything, but it is time for me to move on" my eyes widened.
"What?"
"Baby, I am passing on, only you can talk to me, but only here" I nodded, because I didn't have anything better to do.
"But this is a dream right? When I wake up this will all be a distant memory?" mum shook her head solemnly.
"My brave girl, I died in my sleep, brain anyerisim" my mouth hung limp as I comprehended that my mother was dead, but surely it was a dream?
"mother, is this a dream?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper, she shook her head
"I am so sorry my darling Scarlett" I choked on my own breath and struggled to make my brain work
"Scar, I will be here for a few more months before I have to cross the lake, you need to focus on learning the magic you will be taught on your visits here"
"You mean I will be coming back here?"
*******
