Transformed - Stranger
An abused girl, treated like dirt, denied any freedom, Rumana runs away on the journey to her hometown, only to encounter someone who transforms her into someone not only breathtakingly beautiful and irresistible, but also extremely wild and dangerous. Will Rumana be able to control her newborn instincts to save her family from herself and her new secret? Or will her temptation give in?
The Saif house was now exploding with happiness. Rumana had been found by a doctor in Goa and Mr. and Mrs. Saif were going to travel on a train to Goa to reunite with their daughter. The doctor, Salim Khan had told them that he would meet them at the railway station.
The train rolled on. Mrs. Saif turned to her husband, "I am worried."
"About what?"
"Rumana had gone missing for two weeks. Imagine the gossip that
will start when she returns home. It will be impossible to find a good husband for. No one will be ready to marry her."
"Don't worry, everything will be all right."
"I seriously hope so."
The train reached the Goan railway station at 2:45 pm. Mr. Saif's
phone beeped. It was Salim, the doctor. He picked up the phone.
"Hello, we have reached the station. Where are you?"
"I'm sorry I had an emergency at the hospital. My sons will pick you up." Salim replied.
"Well, it's okay. Where are they?"
"They will be somewhere in the station. They reached fifteen minutes ago. I'll tell them to call you."
"Yeah, okay."
Mr. Saif looked around. Mrs. Saif had sat on one of the benches to wait while Aqsa slept on her lap. They had left Yousuf with his grandparents. He scanned the station, there were not many people in sight. His eye fell on a man who was standing a few feet away. He was extremely pale, he looked bloodless. The man was young, he looked around 25 years old. He was talking on the phone. He was joined by a younger man, who was equally pale. They turned around to face Mr. Saif, who hastily looked away.
He looked at Mrs. Saif. She was simply looking at him. "What do we do now?" she asked. He just shrugged. Someone tapped him on the shoulder. Turning around, he found himself facing the pale man. "Are you Mr. Saif?" he asked. "Yes." The pale man extended a hand. "Farhan. Farhan Khan." Mr. Saif shook his hand. It was very cold, as if it had been inside a freezer. The younger man also shook his hand (which was equally cold), announcing that his name was Rehan.
Rehan picked up the luggage and led the way to the car. It was a silver Ford. Farhan opened the door for Mrs. Saif and got in the driver's seat. Mrs. Saif looked at the two Khans as they got in the front, while Mr. Saif got in the back. They were both extremely good looking and had sharp features. While Rehan's hair was jet black, Farhan's hair was dark brown. One of them would be good for Rumana, thought Mrs. Saif as the car drove on.
"So, " said Mr. Saif, "Where did you find my daughter?"
"It was Rehan who found her, in the forest." replied Farhan, while Rehan simply inclined his head, "she was extremely injured and unconscious. He brought her home to dad. She was in a very critical condition. Dad said it was some animal attack."
"Is she okay now?"
"She is much better now. She had been in a critical state. Dad had to perform some operations on her."
Mrs. Saif winced. Then a question popped in her mind. "How did you find out our number?" Rehan pulled out something battered from his pocket and simply said, "This." It was Rumana's mobile. It had never been in a good condition before, but now it looked even worse. The back cover had been held up with tape, to prevent it from falling out. "It was wet when I found it. We tried the SIM card in another mobile but it wouldn't work. The battery had completely died out. We had to buy a new one to get the phone to work. We tried a couple of numbers but the other line wouldn't pick up. Finally we tried the number which you picked up." He said.
Mrs. Saif noticed that he was extremely polite and his voice was very soft, like he was singing a lullaby. He would be perfect for Rumana. She hoped that he liked Rumana. After all he was the one who saved her.
The Khans lived in a huge bungalow with trees all around it. Farhan parked the car in the driveway and they all got out. Rehan retrieved the luggage and they walked towards the door. Mrs. Saif noticed that his gait was elegant and smooth.
The door opened and a woman peered out. "There you are." she said, "and your father has just entered too. Come in!" she said cheerfully and threw the doors wide open. She too was extremely pale like her sons. "I am Amna, by the way." she said to Mrs. Saif as she walked in.
She ushered them into the hall. There were two more pale men sitting on the sofa and a woman talking to them. On seeing them, the woman stopped speaking and went away. Both of them got up. The older among them stepped forward and raised his hand, "Mr. Saif," he said, "I am Salim." Mr. Saif recognized the voice from the calls he had received. Shaking hands, he asked, "Where is my daughter?"
"Sit down please, I have to tell you something before you see her." Salim replied.
"What is it?" Mr. Saif asked, sitting.
"You see, your daughter was found in a critical condition by my son," Salim gestured towards Rehan who was now standing behind the sofa. "She had been grievously injured by a wild predator, and was on the verge of death."
Mrs. Saif shivered. "And, " continued Salim, "as she had lost a lot of blood, there was very little chance of survival. There was only one way left, and it was extremely dangerous. She had to be injected the dangerous edrophonium drug which would speed up the process of blood clotting. Giving blood transfusion would have been dangerous in this condition. The edrophonium drug could cause many side effects such as amnesia, skin discoloration, weakness or even worse, paralysis."
"Fortunately, your daughter has a strong immune system and she was able to survive without any horrible side effects. The only thing is that her skin has lost its color and her voice has changed a bit."
Salim looked at the two humans sitting in the couch. Both were shaking a bit. Then Mr. Saif whispered, "We cannot thank you enough for what you did."
The doctor seemed embarrassed. "It was nothing."he said, shrugging.
"Can we see her?" Mrs. Saif asked.
"Sure, follow me." replied Amna, and she led them upstairs. They passed many rooms, and were stopped at the door of a room in the middle of the first floor. There were some weird noises coming out of the room. She slowly opened the door, and said, "Rumana, your parents are here."
Mrs. Saif hurried into the room and looked around. Her eyes fell on the bed. She stared at the bed in shock.
Her daughter didn't look like her daughter anymore. She looked like a total stranger.
