Transformed - Changed
Rumana is now changed. Will she be able to control herself?
"You shouldn't have made me call them.", Salim said as I prepared the bed in which I would pretend to be sick. "It's okay." I replied, "I can control myself now."
"You can lose control easily." he thought.
"If it becomes difficult for me to resist, Aaliya and Mehreen will force that into my mouth." I said, indicating the bottle of blood Salim had acquired for me from the hospital's blood bank.
Yes. A bottle of blood. You see, I had been changed. Or transformed would be a better word. The moment I had stepped out of that train.
Rehan had been waiting to suck my blood. That filthy fortune teller. Yeah, he could see the future. He had foreseen my escape and had been waiting for me in the forest to drink my blood. He had bitten me on the neck and then brought my thrashing body here to his coven.
It had been gruesome. It felt as if someone was driving white-hot nails into my body. I had been screaming at them to kill me, to end this horrific pain. I had been burning and screaming for three days when the pain started to subside and my heartbeat grew faint. Slowly my heartbeat had grown fainter and fainter until it had stopped with a final thump.
When I had opened my eyes, everything had been sharper. I could see everything very clearly, even from a long distance. I could hear noises up to a distance of 3 miles. All my senses had sharpened greatly. I could run so fast I became a blur to anyone watching. I also had gained enormous strength. I could crush metal with my bare hands. I could lift a car with one hand. It was all fascinating. But what was most fascinating was that I could hear everyone's thoughts. At first I thought I was going mad, hearing voices in my head. But then Salim told me everything about my transformation and what I had become.
I had also met the other vampires who lived with Salim. Rehan and Farhan, were two brothers who had been dying of swine flu when Salim transformed them to vampires. Farhan was this handsome, muscled, brown haired and easy-going vampire who could electrify anyone who touched him, while Rehan was more of a hot jerk, with his jet black hair and constant gloomy predictions, which he did mainly to annoy me. Then there was Ali, a weird geek who wore glasses. Yes, glasses! When I asked him why he did so, he simply replied that he was used to wearing them and could not live without doing so! Ali was more of a mad scientist than a mad vampire, because he kept doing things in his room, as a result of which frequent exploding noises could be heard. He either kept his nose buried in books or the internet, researching stuff that seemed like Greek and Latin to me.
The female vampires were also very nice. Amna acted as a mother for everyone, while Salim as a father. He could heal people with a wipe of his hand, which is why he was a doctor. There was Mehreen, who was Farhan's mate and a romantic freak who could control air. She could produce howling tornadoes when she was angered. Mostly she would make cool breezes blow around the house, which according to her was very romantic.
Ali's mate, Aaliya was more like a prankster because of her ability to control anyone's tongue. She could make anyone say anything she wanted to hear, which was fun when she tried it mostly on Rehan who would be infuriated because all that would come out of his mouth was a cow's moo whenever he tried to yell at her.
All of them were totally different in personality, but they all had one thing in common: they did not drink human blood. All of them had golden eyes from drinking animal blood. Mine were a vivid red color as I was a newborn, but I had refused to drink animal's blood. I had tried to satisfy my thirst by drinking water, which everyone found hilarious. Hello! I couldn't bear to see an animal writhing in pain as I fed on its blood. It felt so cruel and anyway, I found water satisfying enough.
"They are here!" said Amna who had been looking out the window. Sure enough I could hear voices. My mom was apparently noticing Rehan's gait. She thinks he would be good for me! Hello, no ways I'm going to mate with that fortune teller!
Aaliya and Mehreen entered the room. "Okay, so if you can't control your thirst, start coughing and we will force that into your mouth." said Aaliya. "Get into that bed, honey." said Mehreen. Amna, Salim and Mehreen sprinted downstairs, leaving me alone with Aaliya.
Getting into the bed, I put on a sick face. Aaliya grinned at me. "You are forgetting something." she said. "What?"
She held a box to me. They were a pair of brown contact lenses. "Thanks." I said as I popped them on.
Downstairs I could hear the door open and Amna say, "There you are.And your father has just entered too. Come in!" I looked at Aaliya, panic rising in my throat, "What if I can't control myself?" "Your parents are not very young, are they? Their blood won't be much tempting. It's your sister you have to worry about. She is young, so her blood will be tempting. If the person is young, the blood is fresher and more tempting."
Mehreen entered the room. "Your parent's blood is not much tempting." she thought.
"Your sister's is, though. Be careful." Downstairs Salim was telling my parents the story we had thought of about my being grievously injured and being diagnosed with Edrophonium. Rehan was bored. I could hear him thinking so. He realized that I was listening and went in his mind, "You are just worrying without any reason. They are not much tempting." "Yeah, right." I snorted. "When they enter, don't think about blood, think about something else, like how good I look without a shirt on."
"God! I've never met anyone so arrogant!"
"Why don't you admit it? I like you and you like me too."
"I don't like you, in fact I hate you to the core."
"And why do you hate me?"
"You bit me."
"I had to make you one of us. You are my soulmate."
"Nonsense!"
"Stop fighting!" Mehreen muttered. I ignored her.
"It's not nonsense. I know you like me and I have proof of it." Rehan was clearly enjoying now.
"Where?"
"In some female named Rumana's cell phone."
"WHAT!" I snarled. Mehreen and Aaliya looked at me in alarm.
"You bloody fortune teller, give it back to me."
"I will give it to you, sweetheart. Just come with me to the forest tonight."
Oh God, he was right! I had made a diary in my cell phone. He had found it out and also read it! I began to growl. Amna was coming upstairs with my family. Aaliya grabbed hold of me and started to shake me. "Don't lose control! Think of your family, think of your sister!"
The door opened. Aaliya leaped towards the window. Amna poked her head inside and said, "Rumana, your parents are here."
Mehreen began to blow a breeze away from me so that I would not smell my parent's scent.
Then I saw them. My mother, my sister and my father staring at me in shock.
