Trampolines and Homeowners Insurance

Trampolines provide children and adults hours of fun, but that fun can quickly turn into a nightmare in the event of injury.
When trapeze artist Du Trampoline invented the trampoline in the 19th century, I bet he didn’t think it would become the source of many home liability insurance claims and high homeowners insurance quotes. Sure, trampolines provide children and adults with countless hours of fun, but sometimes that fun quickly turns into a nightmare when somebody falls off and cracks their head.

Due to the high risks that trampolines produce, insurance companies are beginning to raise homeowners insurance quotes and, in some cases, canceling policies altogether for homeowners who possess a trampoline. It’s nothing personal - trampolines are simply too risky for providers to take a chance on.

Don’t agree? Perhaps the following statistics, according to Consumer Product Safety Commission Reports, can alter your opinion:

1. There have been 11 deaths related to trampoline accidents since 1990
2. A child is capable of bouncing up to 30 feet high on a trampoline
3. More than 100,000 hospital emergency room cases for trampoline injuries are reported each year

These numbers have contributed greatly to the increase of home liability insurance claims since 1990.

Save Your Home Liability Coverage from Claims

Trampolines make for a great form of entertainment, especially during parties. However, as statistics have proven, the risk has proven to be far greater than the reward. If filing a home liability insurance claim is something you’re not interested in doing, do yourself a favor and get rid of your trampoline. Your home liability insurance coverage will be forever grateful you did.
