Trace a Fax Number
You do not need to haggle yourself to figure out a fax number these days, as it has become pretty easy. Fax machines sometimes prove very useful and so those who use it must know how to do it. Read on to find out more.

Tracing a Fax Number
Dial #1
First things first, check out the fax, you would mostly find the number from which it was sent. This will be either at the top or bottom of the page with the date of transmission, time and page number. See if you can also get the area code. This will help you find out if the fax was sent from a place not falling under your calling area.
Dial #2
Armed with the phone number, log on to the Internet. Search for a telephone look up site. These are akin to Internet phone books. The major difference is that a regular directory would just give you the address and phone number only if you know the name of the person. This is not the case here . You just need a good online directory then to track a fax number.
Dial #3
Go to the directory site and most probably you would find a tab which says 'reverse phone'. Click on that and once the link id opens, enter the fax number to trace it. Click enter to follow that and you would move on to another page. If you are lucky you would find sufficient information on the number you have entered. Most often than not it is the name and address of the owner of that number or phone line. In case it is a firm, the information will include the name of the company. Address too, will be complete, without any ambiguity, replete with street address, city and state.
Dial #4
Do not worry if the number is not listed. In that case, the listing would appear, but there would be no information about the owner. But the carrier name is mentioned there. This, simply put is the name of the phone company owning the number. Try another directory if you cannot find it in one. Sometimes you may find it in another directory than the one you are looking in.
Whichever site you look in, just keep a watch on anything like reverse phone look-up or reverse phone. It would not generally happen that you will not find the desired number. If this method does not work, use a reverse phone directory, which seems to have become a very popular tool for these purposes. It also helps in tracing a phone number. Happy hunting!
