Tough Love 13

Starbucks:

It felt kind of weird to walk out into the sunlight. I mean being in the darkness for more than a week, it does get kind of lonely in the dark. I felt the breeze on my face, the sunlight. I could actually hear people, hear the cars drive by. It felt good, really good.
"What day is it today? How long was I out for? I calculated in my head that I was out for like a week or something."
"It’s Thursday" said Tye.
"What? Aren’t you guys suppose to be at school today?" I asked.

"Nope. Whats the use? There’s no fun without you there" said Bow. I glared at him. "You’ve been out for a week and a day. Didn’t think you were gonna make it really. I mean when it was our turn to phase, well I guess we were only out for a day or two. Must be different for girls" said Tye. I looked at Decklan trying to catch his eyes but he still wouldn’t look at me.
"Deck? You okay? I really am sorry I scared you."
He sighed. "I know you are. What scares me was what you looked like, to tell you the truth, I have never seen anything like that in my entire life. Guess I’m still in shock."
I laughed nervously. "Well yeah, sorry I guess. Friends?"
I put out my hand for him to shake. "Friends" said Decklan. He was back to his normal self after our handshake.

A few heads turned when I walked into starbucks. It made me feel uncomfortable with all the staring I was getting from the people in there, especially the men. Then it hit me, it was the new me they were looking at. I looked down to check myself. I was dressed perfectly normal. Black skinny jeans, checkered chucks, white top that said: "Sexy Can I?", with a black vest. My hair was down, other than that, I was wearing the same old thing I wear every other day.
"Oh man would you listen to yourself? Dude get a grip on yourself buddy" said Beau.
I rolled my eyes. "Dude, shove it will you. So how’s your missus doing?" I asked Beau.
He shrugged. "Eh, who gives a stuff with her. It’s kind of weird you know. She keeps texting me like every five minutes. She wants to know where I am, who I’m with. You know, all those questions. Man she acts as if we’re together together you know. Like were married or something."

Ah, the same old story. Girl calling and texting all the time wanting to know where he was, who he’s with. Cant blame the guy. If he doesn’t text them back they get all nervous then call the house. Even I tell them he wasn’t at home they would call back after five minutes to check if he’s home. It gets pretty crazy with all the attention he gets from his girls.
"Do you blame her. I mean you did kind of flirt with her you know. And I thought you guys were in a relationship" I said.
He shrugged. "You know how it is with me. I don’t like being in relationships for more than a week or two. It gives me the creeps. They get all clingy and stuff."
"What about you Tye? How’s Aria?"
"She’s fine I guess. I told her that I was picking her up for dinner tonight. Hope you don’t mind" said Tye.

I shrugged. "All goods with me. So what’s the big occasion? Why is she coming over to our place tonight?" I asked.
"Just wanted to get to know her better you know."
"Get to know her better? You two have been going out for more than a week. Wait, you did ask her out didn’t you?"
"Uh, yeah. I wouldn’t be bringing her home if we weren’t going out."
"Thank goodness."
All this talk about Aria reminded me of Aiden. I wonder how he was doing. "So how’s Aiden doing?"
"Aiden? Oh yeah he’s good. Met his brothers last week. Never knew he had more than one brother" said Bow. My mother and father had walked off to their own table by the window and were holding hands, whispering to each other like teenagers. It was nice seeing them like this.

"He has brothers? You for reals?" I asked.
"Yeah. Two of them, and they act just like the twins" said Decklan. "Both crazy and dillusional. They think that all the girl want them. Ugh, its like they were made for each other."
Bow and Beau looked at each other than punched Decklan on each side of his shoulders. "Not funny little turd. We’re not a match made in heaven. It’s just that we act alike. Nothing special about that" said Bow.
Decklan put up his hands. "Hey I was just kidding idiot. You guys didn’t have to punch me you know. That really did hurt" said Decklan, rubbing his arms.
"So what are their names?" I asked.
"Leki and Lance. Funny guys those kids" said Tye.

"Hmm. Leki and Lance? They do sound like the twins"
"What ever" said Beau, rolling his eyes. I laughed.
"Geese boy take a joke will you. I was just kidding. So how’s Aiden doing? And Mekaela"
"Aiden’s the same old Aiden you met and Mekaela, well she’s good aswell. Oh yeah I was going to bring her over for dinner tonight aswell. Is that okay with you guys?" said Decklan. What has the world come to? Both brothers of mine bringing their girlfriends home for dinner. What’s the big deal? Are they that special.
"What’s up with the whole girlfriend thing guys? Is there something going on with you guys? Oh, please tell me you guys ain’t gonna propose to them" I teased.
Tye threw his napkin at me. "No. I just want them to meet mum and dad. I’m not sure about Deck though. I asked ma first, but I guess he could bring her along."
"So you guys planned that tonight was the best night to bring your girlfriends home?"
"Yeah" said Decklan.

"Even if I didn’t wake up, would you still have bought them home?"
They looked at each other. "No. I aint dumb Jess. Why would I bring her home if you were still in bed? That is just rude" said Tye.
"I agree. That is just rude. Maybe I should bring my girlfriend along seeing you guys are bringing your ones home" said Beau. I looked at him.
"Hey didn’t you say you didn’t want your Mrs to be so clingy? If you bring her home tonight she would probably think that as a good sign and that you guys really are in a relationship" I said.
"True. I was just having them on" said Beau.
"Yeah sure you were. What about you Bow? Find someone special yet?"
"Nah, no time for girls you know. They are a waste of time" said Bow. Oh, that’s the Bow I know. Total opposite from Beau. Maybe some day that special someone’s going to come along and maybe Bow would find her interesting.

"What about you little sis? Still interested in that boy. What’s his name? Tykon? Tymoon? Tybum?" said Tye, while flicking his fingers. I rolled my eyes.
"Eh stop trynna be funny dork. Guess I am. I just hope that I would be seeing him at school on Monday. Cant believe I missed a whole week of school. Unbelievable. Just think of all the work I have to catch up on."
"Chill little sis. You’re the same age as Deck. He probably knows what you guys are upto yeah?" said Beau.
"Nothing much really. Just the same old boring mathematics equations you know" said Decklan.
"We’re not in the same classes egg" I told Beau.
"Yes we are. I changed my time table so we could be in the same class" said Deck.
Great, he probably wants to spy on me.
"Is it just me or is lover boy walking our way?" said Beau.

I turned to where his gaze was. Outside of the window Tyrone walked in with Leila and his other brothers. He looked over at our table and saw me staring. I could feel the butterflies in my stomach. At first I didn’t think he would notice me. He stopped dead in his tracks looking at me up and down. He was probably trying to figure out who I was. He shook his head then turned away and walked with Leila to the counter. The butterflies I had ealier went away, leaving me disappointed and hurt. Why didn’t he just come over and say hi to me? Am I that hideous? Beau seemed to notice and spoke up.
"It’s okay little sis. He probably didn’t know it was you"
I nodded. "I guess so. Its getting kind of crowded in here. Can we go home now?" I asked. They all nodded their heads. Even though my brothers may be men, but they understood me more than anybody did. They know me more than my parents.
"Sure come on. Shotgun the front seat" said Bow.

I got up and followed them outside. Bow and Beau were shoving each other like seven year old while running to the car.
"Stuff off eah. Om the oldest, the oldest always gets the front seat" said Beau.
"Yeah, by five minutes. It still doesn’t make any difference you idiot. I said it first, you just have to sit at the back just like I did when we got here" said Bow.
I rolled my eyes. They would never stop arguing. Beau started to shove Bow backwards. I watched as Bow fell backwards, landing on his bottom. I laughed and Bow looked up. A few seconds later a gust of wind blew past me pushing Beau to the ground flat on his back. Bow laughed at him.
"You’re such a cheater. You’re not aloud to do that" said Beau, getting up.
"You two are always fighting. Get your asses in the car now and I don’t want to hear anymore or anything coming from the two of you" said Tye, pulling them apart as Beau lunged at Bow.

"Fine" said Beau, then huffed. "I’m not riding in the same car as that idiot. Deck I’m coming with you and Jess" said Beau, then started walking towards our car.
I rolled my eyes. "What is it with you two. I’ll sit at the back then."
I few people walked past us, staring at us like we were some kind of circus. Who could blame them. They were acting kind of stupid. Decklan chuckled. We got into the car and drove up next to Tye and Beau. "Last one to get home is doing the dishes" said Decklan then drove off. We hated doing the dishes. My mother thinks that since we use the plate, we should clean it ourselves. It was a waste of money to buy a dishwashing machine when there are extra hand in the house to help them out. We drove off leaving our parents behind, all by themselves. I wanted to try out my new power that I had. If I could just focus then maybe I could make the fly. I focused hard, using my mind to control the power in me. I imagined the car flying in the air. Then I heard Beau gasp.
"What the hell is going on? Hell, maybe aliens are trying to kidnap us" said Beau.
He looked back at me. I looked outside and saw that we were flying in the air. It felt so good. Forgetting about having to control the power in me to make the car be able to fly, I lost control of it. next thing I knew, we were out of the sky. Beau and Decklan screamed like a bunch of girls.

"Jess what the hell did you do? I don’t want to die. I want to see Mekaela tonight" said Decklan, still screaming at the top of his lungs. I could see the ground come up fast, and on it Tye’s car was driving a bit slowly, his head out of the window looking up at us. As soon as he saw up going down he sped up getting out of the way.
"Aahhhhhh, were going to die. Oh my god, oh my god were going to die" said Beau.
I rolled my eyes. I put myself in focus, using the energy in me to keep the car floating. Thinking I couldn’t do it, I felt a bump. Beau and Decklan stopped screaming and looked out of the window and they both let out their breaths. "That was lucky. Now Jess could you please put us down now. Don’t want to die at a young age" said Beau.
I closed my eyes and concentrated on putting the car down. I felt another bump as we hit the ground.

"That was close. Where the hell is Tylor. Oh man I do not want to be doing those dishes" said Decklan. I knew I had more than one ability. Maybe I could do more than just lifting objects in the air. Maybe I could read minds, or maybe fire could come out of my hands. I concentrated on a picture of Tye and Bow. I could see them now, it was blurry at first then I got the hang of it. They were right in front of us. About five-six minutes ahead.
I opened my eyes. They were glowing again, instead a different colour was made. My eyes were glowing , a black color outlined with a rich gold colour. Could it be possible that my eyes could change colors when ever I used different abilities? Maybe it could. I just had to find out later, the powers I have that I still don’t know of.

"Speed up Deck, looks like we don’t have that much ground to cover. They are at least six minutes ahead of us. Better drive fast if you want to catch up" I said. He looked at me through the mirror and saw the color of my eyes. He stared at me then shook his head. "Thanks" he said. Beau turned around after seeing Decklan’s face.
"Your eyes. Ugh, scary man" said Beau. I looked at him then shook my head. Slowly the color of my eyes turned back to their normal color.
