Top Comedy Movies of the Decade
Listing out names of the top comedy movies of the decade is a tough job. The last decade gave us infinite moments of laughter that are going to be remembered for a long time, so let's check out some of those names.

Best Comedy Movies of the Decade
I've always been an admirer of comic films and their stars and I've seen a lot of them from the last decade. Some were great and some were just plain stupid, and hence I thought of making a list of the best comedy films of the last decade that made quite an impression and also left viewers in splits.
Bridget Jones Diary, 2001
Directors may be hesitant to cast Renee Zellweger in pivotal roles, but she was the main reason Bridget Jones Diary became a blockbuster. It is one of the best comedy movies in which Zellweger effortlessly charmed critics and audiences by putting on 20 pounds. It is a story of a British singleton who falls in love first with Hugh Grant and then Colin Firth. From her bad public speeches to listening of sad F.M radio songs in her pajamas. Zellweger does a fabulous job and carries the entire movie on her shoulders with gratitude.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 2004
Charlie Kaufman redefines romantic comedies. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet play a couple who break up and want to erase each others memories. The problem arises when Carrey again relives those memories, he finds out that their loves is much more than the jealousy, bickering and insecurity. One of my favorite comedy movies of the decade, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is inventive, humorous and aching at the same time.
The 40 Year-Old Virgin, 2005
Judd Apatow has emerged one of the top comedy makers this decade. His first movie the 40 Year-Old Virgin, is a big, goofy, hilarious mess that has made its place into the hearts of movie fans. Steve Carell and Catherine Keener play the main leads. This no-nonsense romance is a total fun package with an outrageous premise and lewd jokes which makes it one of the best comedies of the decade.
Juno, 2007
Juno is always regarded as a serious drama film, but if you ask me I think it is one of the best comedy films of the decade. The heart of Juno's story is Ellen Page and her sarcasm. The film deals with teen pregnancy in a slight realistic and humorous way. It takes pregnancy for her to realize the man of her dreams is always in yellow shorts and is a runner.
Wall-E, 2008
Before you think it is a science fiction documentary, let's focus on the plot of Wall-E for a second; lonely boy meets girl, falls in love and travels everywhere in the universe to be with her. It is a romantic comedy with space. Of course you should know that both the boy and girl are robots. There's no dialog and its animated. When Wall-E (the lonely boy) and Eve (the girl) dance together amongst the stars, you witness a comedy with an element of romance in it.
The Hangover, 2009
Hangover was a low-budget movie made with four actors who were not so well-known. However, after release this movie grossed $275 million at domestic box office and now is considered as a cult comedy. Let's not see just the numbers, "The Hangover" had no built-in audience, no stars, no ride to associate with it, no comic book adaptation, no fancy actresses. It just had a funny storyline and some solid actors which puts this movie a spot in the top comedy movies of the decade list. This is usually the type of movie that falls flat with the critics but that didn't happened. It was equally praised by critics and audiences both.
I Love You Philip Morris, 2009
I Love You Philip Morris is a comedy-drama film inspired by real life characters and events. The plot is about a gay con artist who is serving prison time and he falls in love with an inmate and tries every trick in the book to escape from prison, so that they can live happily ever after. Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor play the leads and Carrey's comic sense makes it a must watch.
Date Night, 2010
When Steve Carrel is in a movie, expectations get really high. In this film he plays the lead with TV's comedy queen Tina Fey. On the whole it is a feel good movie with brilliant performances by the two and surprise guest appearances from stars who have never attempted comedy in their entire career.
