The animation style that originated in Japan is called 'anime'. In the Western world, it is generally referred to as 'Japanese animation'. There are many loyal followers of some of the anime series not only in Japan, but around the world. There are television series, movies, video games, commercials, comics as well fully dedicated Internet sites to some of the top 10 anime of all time.

Best Anime Series

I shall begin the list with some of the most popular anime series ever produced. The best anime series mentioned in the following list are my personal recommendation. I am sure you too will agree some of the following best anime series which truly deserve to be mentioned in this countdown.

Naruto
This is probably one of the best anime series based on manga by Kishimoto Masashi. I have a friend who I suppose is one of the most die-hard fans of Naruto. This anime series tells a story of a boy called Uzumaki Naruto. He has a Kyubi, that is, a fearsome nine tailed fox sealed within his body. He is an orphan who struggles to get attention as well as respect from his village people. However, the villagers tend to judge as a monster, instead of looking at him as just a little boy needing some attention and care.

Death Note
This is a very unique story about a high school student, Light Yagami, who finds a book of Shinigami. Light Yagami is a genius and soon discovers the notebook has evil powers. It kills anyone whose name is written on it. However, instead of turning into an evil himself, he uses this evil book to destroy all the crime happening around him.

Dragon Ball Z
The Dragon Ball Z is the best anime series of all time that wins a place in this list hands down based on popularity charts. It is about the protogonist of the series Son Goku, who has searched for the first Dragon Balls. After many years of living peacefully with a wife and son, Goku learns he is a Saiyan, that is, from another planet. Thus, this revelation initiates new adventures in the life of Goku as well as his friends, who fight to defend their new home against evil.

Full Metal Alchemist
This is an action adventure as well as magical tale of two brothers Edward and Alphonse. They break an old taboo of human transmutation by trying to revive their dead mother. This mistake costs them hard and they need to travel around the world in search of the Philosopher's stone. This will help them regain all that they lost due to their mistake.

Inuyasha
Inuyasha is about a middle school student who can time travel. Inuyasha is not just any middle school student, but is actually a half demon, lecherous monk, fox demon, demon slayer and a nekomata. He is in search of the Jewel of Four Souls and strives to keep these jewels from the hands of evil villains.

One Piece
This shonen manga series is about a boy named Monkey D. Luffy. He is inspired by his childhood hero, 'Red Haired' Shanks. He goes on a journey to find the One Piece, organizing a crew named Straw Hat Pirates on his quest.

Bleach
Bleach is one of the most viewed series of all time. The plot of Bleach revolves around Ichigo Kurosaki, the bold orange haired teenager. He becomes the Shinigami or Death God to protect his near and dear ones.

Code Geass
This series is set in an alternate world. The plot of the story is about Japan being conquered by the Holy Britannian Empire. The Britannian Prince, Lelouch is very saddened by the death of his mother at the hands of his own father, the Emperor of the Britannian Empire. He sets off on a quest for retribution and acquire the power of the Geass to shape and destroy the world.

Cowboy Bebop
This series is based in future where the man has spread his colonies far and wide across the universe. There is a group of bounty hunters that live aboard the spaceship Bebop. They are forever in search of new businesses to earn their living.

Astro Boy
Astro Boy is one of the best anime series ever that is about a robot created by the head of Ministry of Science. He was created as a replacement for his son Tobio, who was killed in an unfortunate car accident. Astro Boy fights crime, injustice and anything evil.

Best Anime Movies of All Time

With the craze for some of the top series, it is quite obvious, these characters would soon make it up to the silver screen.
