Top Anime Movies

Anime movie genre can be seen as fast paced action and colorful spiky hair characters. However, this is just a small part of anime movies. There are so many different kinds of anime movies that have become popular, and yet there are some other non-conventional types that have not reached the offbeat audience. Some of the anime movies, don't have much action but they do have a very strong plot that it will make you cry. This can be seen in movies like Grave of the Fireflies and Barefoot Gen. While some of the movies have extremely cute characters like the girls in the movie My Neighbor Totoro and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. There are also some great anime movies which have such concepts that will shake you, which can be seen depicted in movies like Ghost in the Shell and Jin-Roh. Well, if you don't know what I am talking about then here is my list of top 10 anime movies and another list of best anime movies consisting of some honorable mentions.

Grave of the Fireflies (1988): This is one of the best anime movies of all time. This movie made me cry, and if you watch it, it will surely bring tears to your eyes as well. This movie shows a tragic story of a young boy who is struggling to save his and his baby sister's life during the World War II.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984): This is another great film made by my favorite director: Hayao Miyazaki. In this movie Nausicaä is desperately trying to save two dying planets.

Death Note (2006): All right, ordinarily you won't find this movie in top 10 anime movies list, but this is one of my favorite anime movies. In this movie Light Yagami finds a death note. Light Yagami discovers that by writing the name of the person on the notebook, you can kill a person. And thus he strives to use the death note, to get rid of all the criminals in the world. A must watch. If you like the movie, watch the top anime series of Death Note as well.

Howl's Moving Castle (2004): This is a cute romantic film, that has amazing characters. In this movie a young woman gets cursed into being an old woman, then she finds sanctuary in Howl's moving castle.

Akira (1988): This is a classic movie, in which a secret military project jeopardizes Neo Tokyo, and turns a biker gangster into a rampaging psychopath. The only people who can stop him are two children and a group of psionics.

My Neighbor Totoro (1988) This is a very cute anime film, and one of the best anime ever made. It is about two sisters who have moved to a new home with their father, and their adventures with Totoro, the forest spirit.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006): This movie without any doubt is among the best anime movies of the decade. This movie is very hilarious and entertaining to watch. It is about a girl who discovers time travel.

Ghost in the Shell (1995): In this Sci-Fi movie, a female cyborg who is a cop with her partner hunt a mysterious hacker who is known as the Puppet Master. If you think this is the best anime movie, then watch the part 2 of the movie called Innocence.

The Animatrix (2003): This is a very unique movie, which combines several animated short films, that depict the backstory of the 'Matrix universe' showing the war between man and the machines.

5 Centimeters per Second (2007): This movie is not seen among top animated movie list usually. This movie will make you feel mixed emotions. It has three interconnected parts. The movies starts with a young man and his life through cruel winters, adult responsibilities and obligations and his love life.

Subtitles of the movies in English and other language are available online, so even if you can't find subs of a particular movie subtitles, then do an online search and upload the subtitle file in the video player, and enjoy watching these movies!
