They say that a dog is a man's best friend. In most cases, yes, but in some cases, this statement could not be further from the truth. While training a pet dog to adhere to the rules of the house does get him to become tame, one cannot forget that there are certain breeds that are known for their hunting or other equally fierce skills. We talk about some such breeds in this article. The list given below might contain breeds that are easily adopted as pets, but they can be dangerous if not handled or trained well.

10 Most Vicious Dog Breeds

Pit Bulls
This breed of dogs have a stare that is so dangerous that it's enough to scare the daylights out of the person. They look the part of walking danger and their bulky frame adds to that effect. Weighing 55-65 lbs., this dog has a ferocious set of eyes and a jaw to boot. A pit bull can mangle a human to death by its mere jaws. It does this by locking the jaws in and then drawing the life out. It's favorite spot of attack is the throat. A quality like this makes them rather fearless and they are thus willing to be a part of any dog fight!

Rottweilers
Rottweilers weigh a minimum of 100 pounds. Large, dangerous and very, very territorial. That's where their dangerous streak comes from. Their territorial instinct is so high that it drives them to attack people or other animals that trespass their area. It is due to this reason why this breed of dogs is kept as guard dogs. But without sufficient dog training, Rottweilers might even attack their 'masters'.

Doberman Pinschers
Their pointed ears always at attention and a keen look in their eyes, that's what the Doberman Pinshers are pictured like. They weigh about 80-90 pounds and are considered to be sleek and muscular. Qualities like intelligence, alertness and loyalty dominate their personality. Don't sound dangerous? Try to get on their wrong sides and you will see. They are known to attack people who provoke them or their family. It is this instinct that makes them one of the best guard dogs to have for all dog breeders.

German Shepherds
Also known as Alsatians, this breed is very intelligent, smart and powerful. They weigh about 70-100 pounds. It is common knowledge that these dogs are used in the police force rather commonly because of their reputation of being intelligent dogs. But the reason why they are considered dangerous is because, if provoked they get extremely aggressive and their behavior cannot be controlled thereafter.

Huskies
Their eyes remind you of wolves (I think sometimes), but apart from their eyes exuding danger, the Huskies weigh about 60-70 pounds and have an extremely temperamental behavior. They are full of energy and need lots of exercise. Though they are intelligent, they are not usually picked out for watch dogs because of their temperamental dog behavior. It is this same behavior that drives them to attack sometimes which can even be fatal (though it is rare) and definitely cause severe injuries.

Great Danes
Great Danes weigh a maximum of a whopping 200 pounds! So there's no confusion about the origin of the term great. Their size alone can be very intimidating and can thus obviously ensure that they are not easily picked on or harassed. They need a lot of exercise to maintain their health and the reason they prove they are dangerous is their instinct to attack and rebel when they are not provided with this much-needed exercise.

Alaskan Malamutes
This breed is dominated with qualities of being very energetic and intelligent and they are highly devoted to their owners. They can weigh about a hundred pounds and have a thick and furry coat due to their origin in the Arctic region. Though they don't usually attack, if provoked or if their energy is not channeled in a positive manner, or enough care is not provided, they become aggressive and very tough to handle.

Chow Chows
The name might not necessarily exude danger, but its reputation definitely does! They are a rare find for this list because their appearance does not convey danger at all. They have a wrinkled face, furry hair, and pinched eyes...but if petted by someone they are unfamiliar around, they can attack quite brutally by rendering bites. They are also gravely attention seeking and do not appreciate it if it is not provided to them, which they will make rather clear in their own way (if you know what I mean)!

Presa Canario
They originally belong to the Canary Islands, where they were trained for hunting and war. So the instinct of attack runs in their blood. The dog weighs 80-100 pounds and is considered to be energetic, powerful and have no traces of fear in them. It is said that a person who is attacked by this breed is a goner.

Boxers
The boxer breed of dogs looks every bit the part of a 'dangerous dog'. They weigh about 60 pounds. Originally they were trained to be used for hunting wild boars. Though that time has passed, the boxer is still considered dangerous because it can turn aggressive around people it is unfamiliar around. It is advised that a leash always be put on this dog when it is in public and it is also important that they be refrained from playing very aggressive games.
