Her P.O.V

Noon came pretty soon and before I knew it, I was in a big empty field near the end of the town with Coco watching Mike do fancy tricks with a soccer ball. If I knew that something bad was going to happen, I would have warned Mike not to kick the ball so hard towards the abandoned farm. As I watched him do keeps ups and show me his new moves that he was taught in soccer, part of me wished my ankle wasn't swollen and played with him. I knew that he had always wanted to be in the World Cup one day, and I'm sure he will, with so much talent.

"Forty...forty-one...forty-... DRAT!" Grumbled Mike. I laughed and shook my head at him. Keep on trying my friend, but you're going to take up this whole afternoon without my help." I teased. He just stuck his tongue out at me and tried again. I smiled softly and tried to walk casually with my twisted ankle towards him. "You have to move to the ball more, it is not going to come to you...unless you have super powers, but I don't think you do." I stated. Mike frowned slightly before sighing. "Okay." And with that he started again, but this time moving faster towards the ball.

"Fifty-seven, fifty eight, fifty-nine... Damnit! I can't do this anymore Monica!" Yelled Mike loudly. I sighed. "Gees, this is pretty good you know, for someone like you." I said slowly, while patting Coco. "Alright, last try and I'm quitting for the day." He stated before trying again, I laughed and watched him, this time I could see that there's more determination in his face then before. Of course it wasn't until he got close to his record, which was sixty-two, that he messed up. Instead of stopping, Mike took his frustration at the ball and kicked it as high and as hard as he could.

The ball went through the abandoned farm's roof like it was made out of clay. "Mike!" I yelled. "Go get it." I commanded. He only sighed before running. It was then suddenly that Coco started to bark and ran after him too. I stood there motionlessly for a moment, watching while Mike went into the barn to fetch his ball before following Coco too. When I got closer to the barn, without any warning at all, the barn's roof started to creak and the roof was collapsing! I wondered what was taking Mike so long to get the ball, but I decided to take action and ran into the old bar. "Mike!" I screamed, while pieces of wood came down. At first I didn't hear him, but then I heard Coco barking and I went deeper into the now half lighted barn.

I quickly tried to hurry to the sound of Coco with my twisted ankle and when I got there, Mike's leg was caught on a piece of wood, but he eventually shoved it off. I looked up, knowing that there was about less than half a minute before this whole barn is going to collapse. "Hurry up!" I yelled before grabbing his arm and shoving him forward. I knew that Mike was a fast runner and that he would make it, me on the other hand...given on any other day, I would have made it, but not today, not with my twisted ankle. "But..." Stammered Mike, I just pushed him harder. "RUN!" I screamed and that's what he did. It was milliseconds after that the whole barn collapsed and I felt pain everywhere.

His P.O.V

I was driving in my car towards some business meeting that my parents had called me to take care of, when I saw a boy in the middle of the road, waving his arms like crazy and with a very familiar dog. I braked suddenly and thought for a moment if I should really care about this boy and his dog. I was going to be late for the meeting if I deal with whatever issues the boy's got, but maybe this was important if he seemed this distressed. With a huge sigh, I stepped out of my BMW and walked casually towards the boy. "Please help me!" The boy said, coming over to me. "My sister...err half-sister is trapped under a collapsed barn!" He cried out. I was silent, first studying him. The boy had short black hair and he was sort of dirty, while his dog...it was white and brown. They actually both looked familiar, well the boy looked like someone. "Half sister you say?" I asked. The boy nodded quickly and spoke. "Please can you help me?" He questioned urgently. I ran a hand through my hair, still debating whether or not to do so. Of course normal people would have immediately helped, but I was different, I was busy. "Alright, listen kid, why don't you call the medics?" I replied, before taking my phone out of my pocket and throwing it at him.

The boy didn't seem happy at all about that option and he quickly shook his head. "They're not going to come fast enough! Please, my...my half-sister's in trouble!" He begged. I sighed and then it came to me. Could it be possible that his half- sister is Monica? Who else would look similar enough, have the white and brown dog and have a half-sister in this city? Seems like the chances are pretty slim. "Is your half-sister Monica?" I breathed out. The boy looked at me in surprise before nodding. "Yeah...how do you know her and her name?" He demanded. My heart froze for a moment and I grabbed the boy quickly. "No time for questions, where is she?" I demanded. He nodded and pointed across the field, to what looked like a big pile of wood. I didn't reply and quickly ran in that direction.

In less than three minutes, I got there slightly out of breath. I didn't know where to start, but I knew that the longer she was trapped under this whole mess, the slimmer her rate of survival was. With my bare hands I quickly pulled away a couple of wood, but it was useless. It wasn't moments later that the boy and Coco was beside me, digging out everything. Time slowly trickled by to five minutes and it was then that I saw a hand when I pulled away a piece of wood. I shoved away a few others, before a motionless body was revealed. "Quick! Help me remove the rest of the wood!" I shouted towards the boy. He came pretty fast and grabbed an armful of wood and tossed them towards the side. My breathing went rigid when I saw how terrible she looked. Bending down lower, I scooped Monica into my arms and stood up. "Come, I'll take her to the hospital." I said to the boy before hurrying back to my car. He hurried after me, along with Coco.

I let the boy and the dog slip into the back of my car before sliding Monica there too. Then I went directly to the driver's seat and started the car quickly. It was quiet silent in the car, even with the dog Coco, so I spoke up. "So you're Monica's half-brother? What's your name?" I questioned. "It's Mike." He said quietly. I nodded and that was pretty much our whole conversation for the rest of the ride. It took me ten minutes to get to the nearest hospital and by then I was alerted by Mike that Monica's pulse was getting fainter. Quickly, I parked and took Monica out and ran to the entrance of the hospital, along with Mike, pets weren't allowed in, so he left Coco in my car. Hopefully the dog won't do anything to it! We burst into the hospital entrance, catching a few doctors and nurses by surprise. Mike was the first one to speak. "Please! Help my half-sister!" Within a few seconds, two nurses took her away, leaving me and Mike behind.

I decided to cancel the meeting by calling a few people and stay at the hospital to see if Monica was okay. But we had to wait quite a while, by we, it was me and Mike. "Do you want to call your parents about this?" I asked, holding out my cell phone and looking towards him. He was silent for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, sure, to tell that another one of my sister's...half-sister is in the hospital." He grumbled before taking it and going to a quieter area.

Mike's phone call was pretty quick, because within a minute, he came back and took a seat beside me again. I knew that it wasn't right to ask personal questions, but I was curious at what his parents had to say. "So what had you parents say?" I asked, looking towards him. "Nothing, they weren't home." Replied Mike simply before handing over my cell phone. I nodded and it became eerily silent for a while, until Mike spoke up.

"So how do you know Monica?" He asked curiously. I smiled softly at his question. "Old school friends." I replied. "Oh that's cool, she must be lucky to have a friend like you." He continued. I chuckled and shrugged. "Well that really depends. I'm also lucky to have a friend like her." I stated. Mike nodded and continued to speak. "So do you like her?" He asked. I stared at him, half taken by surprise from that question. Mike was very up front about things and I wasn't exactly sure what my answer was. "As a friend yes." I replied simply. "No, I mean as love." He said. "What?" I repeated, not knowing how exactly to answer him. "You know what I mean...Every guy has to like someone." He stated. I laughed at what he had said and shook my head. "Not every guy." I confronted. "But, maybe I do, maybe I don't like Monica." I said, with a grin. "You don't make any sense!" Complained Mike.

"That's the point." I replied. "But, I saw how you looked at her and it definitely looked like to me, that you have feeling for her." He countered. I stared at this boy in wonder, how observant he was. "Alright, do you like anyone?" I asked, somewhat trying to change the subject. "Yes and you still have not answered my question yet." Stated Mike simply. I sighed and spoke, knowing that it might actually be partially a lie. "No, I don't love her; I only like her as a friend." I replied for the final time. "Anyhow, what were you two doing by the field anyway?" I asked. "Playing soccer...well I was anyway." He said. "Oh? And how did the barn end up collapsing onto Monica?" I asked. Mike sighed and shrugged. "Okay, it's sort of my fault...I kicked the soccer ball a bit too hard towards the barn and then it might have hit a soft spot there." He confessed. I nodding before patting him. "Accidents happen." I said. I could tell that Mike was going to speak again, until we got interrupted by a nurse. "She's awake now, you may go and visit her." Said the nurse before leaving. We both stood up and quickly went to Monica's hospital room.
