Toga Party
So you've decided to have a toga party, and that's all you've been able to decide. What about the food and drinks, the music, the costumes, the invitations, etc.? Find out what makes for a great toga party, here.

Toga parties are most popular among college students in search of unique party themes to stand out from the rest of the parties that are so common at such a time. Because of this, a lot of people now associate a toga party with drunk college students, wearing strategically draped togas and behaving in an imbecile manner. While this is a popular perception associated with a toga party, there are several ways of hosting one in a civilized manner that is equally enjoyable. Take a look at all that makes for a great toga party.
Invitations
An authentic toga party would entail sending out invitations on vintage paper, written in calligraphy, that would make the entire party seem authentic. Though it is a lot of hard work, it is the best way to ensure the authenticity of the theme. You could also have these printed in a calligraphy font if writing it is a tough task for you. Also add some Roman clip art on it for a humorous touch if you are having it printed.
Decorations
The decorations for a toga party would be based on the colors white and gold, as it is the traditional color combination associated with this theme. Vine leaves are perfect to add to the decorations of this party. For further additions and interesting decorations, put up posters and pictures of ancient Roman warriors and gladiators. Put up thrones instead of chairs, or have at least a single throne to complete your decorations.
Costume
This is where all the fun is. The costumes are the same for everyone. A toga is usually draped only over one shoulder, but as mentioned earlier, over the years, the ways of draping a toga have been modified to suit individual styles and needs. The numerous ways in which a toga can be enhanced and accessorized are mind-boggling. With the Roman head wreath, and different pieces of (preferably) gold colored jewelry, including armlets, and traditional gladiator sandals your toga costumes are complete. Also, if you don't want to stick to the traditional white and gold combination, feel free to wear a toga of a printed material in different colors, just to stand out a little. Remember to accessorize suitably when you do so. Finally, you may also purchase a ready-made toga for a perfect fit, but the variations you can resort to by draping a toga yourself will be missing from this costume you purchase off the shelf.
Food & Drink
Finger foods such as sausages, chicken, olives with feta cheese, rolls sprinkled with poppy seeds and honey, and dishes prepared with eggs, are best at a toga party. The most popular drinks are wine and grape juice served in wine goblets. Also include other foods in the menu such as almonds, grapes, cheesecakes, nuts and freshly cut fruits.
With all these ideas in place, gather all your toga party supplies including some great music, have a great time and a marvelous party to remember.
