Toddler Modeling

So you are looking for some toddler modeling advice. Well, read the article given below to know about the many toddler modeling opportunities, who know you may even land an audition for your little one!
In one of the episodes of Friends, Phoebe convinces Rachel to take Emma for a toddler beauty contest. Toddler modeling is much the same. Your little one has fame and moolah. How does one go about the whole kid modeling business? This question always bugged me, especially, when you see cute little babies on the screen who are obviously unaware of their wide fan base. So, I did some poking about on the net and this is what I discovered.

Modeling Opportunities for Toddlers

As a career, modeling for toddlers is less exciting as compared to how the toddler's parents feel, for obvious reasons. I mean the poor child is only concerned about his food and his toys. So since the child is too young to fully take in what is happening around him, I guess it is a pretty safe career as long as the little one is under your supervision. Anyway leaving personal decisions to savvy parents, there are loads of opportunity available for toddlers. The main thing to remember is you will need to be patient to get the right type of response.

Every city has its fashion shows and fancy dress competition, you can get your child registered for these. You will also need to prepare your kid's portfolio, so make sure you have a good head shot, profile etc. Be wary of the so-called talent scouts, many are just running shams. Good modeling agents usually don't take any registration fees etc., they take commission from the ads that your child does. As a model your child can get to work in commercial ad films, his/her photos can be used for magazines also. There are plenty of opportunities out there, a good agent can get you hooked up with the right ones.

Toddler Modeling Contests

There are plenty of modeling contests out there. You can send two or three photos of your child to these contests, once you get the invite, prepare the child well. The winners of these contests get cash prizes and the lucky ones can even land a good commercial. To get your little one an audition, you have to keep your eyes open for any opportunity that can get your child noticed. If your newspaper runs a cute kid content, send in the photos of your child. There are plenty of online modeling contests, you can start with those to see the response. Many parenting magazines also run contents for their next cover, so keep a track of all these opportunities. This a quick checklist to get your child a modeling deal.
  • Make a portfolio of your toddler.
  • Mail it to contests and agencies.
  • Find a good agency.
When it comes to toddler modeling, one has to remember that the child should not be stressed out. Also the modeling agencies will not work according to your child's routine, they will demand that the child be there at a certain time and place. This at times can be quite hectic. Make sure before you get your child committed to an agency, speak to some of the parents of other children working there, to get some valuable feedback. Remember not to push your child too much, if you have your ducks in a row, your little one may just be the next big thing!
