To Bee - A Friend

A poem from the author’s latest collection, "A Little Book of Bee Poems", available on line from Amazon.com
One day a little honeybee,
Said, buzz-buzzily to me, "
Do you like the food I make?
Do you like my honey cake?"

"Oh Yes!" I whispered, truthfully,
"I love your honey dearly."
"I love the way you visit flowers,
Working hard, through sunlit hours."

"Please, will you then take care of me?"
Buzzed the worried little bee,
"When summer flowers meet their end,
Will you be my gentle friend?"

"Of course " I answered, tearfully,
"I’ll care for you most tenderly,
When frost and snow lies all around,
I’ll bring you sugar by the pound."

The little bee buzzed away,
I saw a daisy dance and sway,
I watched her kiss it’s golden tips,
And bring me nectar for my lips.
