To Be a Successful Home Business Affiliate, You Should First Take Care of Business!

Have you been trying to be a successful home business affiliate? Have you recently been trying to do internet marketing? Does the bad economy got you down?

If you answer yes to one of these questions, you may very well be feeling the pressure. If you answer yes to at least two of these questions, I can almost guarantee that you are really putting pressure on yourself to start making some money. However, this may be the very approach that is keeping you back! Let me explain.

Back when I first started to get involved with affiliate marketing, I hired a company that was going to coach me through some personal one on one coaching, and a series of webinars. Before I started all of that, they had me write down a bunch of short and long term goals. What I didn’t realize at the time, was that they had basically written them for me. I didn’t know what to write, so they suggested some numbers to me.

This ended up being bad because I had unrealistic expectations of what I would achieve. Not to mention, it was sort of how they got me to put out a couple thousand dollars to begin with. They made it sound like it was just a formality that I would earn $100,000 a year. After a few months, they had my money, and I was feeling really inadequate because I was making nothing.

Since then I’ve learned many valuable things, of which one of the most valuable things is to have realistic goals. And in order to have realistic goals, I would have to have some idea of what the heck I was doing. Anyone could say they want to earn $2,000 a month, or $60,000 a year, but if you have no idea what it takes to do that, it’s sort of like putting the cart before the horse.

What I’ve found to be most helpful to become a successful home business affiliate, is to take the time to learn about this business. To know how much I can make, and how much I will have to spend to make that money, I truly have to know at least a bit about what is going on out here. It is impossible to do otherwise. And in my experience, the number one mistake people make in the beginning is that they start to think about how much money they are going to make. It’s sort of like deciding to open up a restaurant without having any idea of how much it will cost, or how to run it, or what kind of food to have, etc., etc. Are you beginning to see the point?

I’m not saying to have no goals. I’m just saying that in the very beginning, it’s ludicrous to think you will be able to predict how much you can make. However, this is precisely what so many people make fortunes. There are people who know that if they put their ad in front of tens of thousands of prospective marketers, many will fall for the promise of vast riches. And I’m not even saying that everything is a scam, because that’s not true either. It’s just that if you have no idea what you’re doing, you won’t be able to sell even the best products.

As always, hind sight is twenty-twenty.. In other words, I can’t redo what I’ve done, but I have survived my mistakes, and now I try to help others. And whether or not you like the program I’m involved with or not, doesn’t matter to me. Don’t get me wrong, I would like to work with you, but, in the end, the important thing for me is that people starting out don’t make the same mistakes as I do. Again, don’t get me wrong, I am in the business of making money, and enough people do like the program I’m involved with because we don’t make false promises.
