Tipsy Chapter 3
Jess is a 15-year-old who is sick and tired of being the staid and sweet girl, she decides to let go just for one night but then the next morning she is already doubting her decision...
"Umph!" Jessie groaned, "Thirty three, thirty four..." She was in Phys. Ed. and their teacher, Coach Wilson, was obviously fired up. First he'd made them run ten rounds around the hockey field and then- without letting them pause for the breath- made them jump a set of six hurdles three times. Now, he had "challenged" them to do a hundred push-ups. As if that was possible! And "challenged" might be the wrong word to describe his proposition, since the only thing he was doing was shouting orders and insults at them.
Jessie lay flat on the ground for a few moments to rest. "He's killing us!" she complained to Kyle who seemed to be actually enjoying the torture. He only smiled briefly at her and continued.
"Sixty nine, seventy!" he groaned.
Yep. Jess thought to herself, he's really having a ball.
Jess saw his shadow before she saw him. "Is there a problem Miss Morris?" Coach Wilson asked
Jess.
"Uh...no," Jess replied. She continued with the torturous exercise. "Seventy eight, seventy nine, eighty!
Coach Wilson stood there for a few more moments and then walked on. Jess collapsed on the floor "Whew!" she breathed.
"Newton's first law states that..."
"If you shut up and eat when you're supposed to then it reduces your chances of dying from starvation." Jess interrupted.
"No," Kyle continued. "It states that every body remains in a state of rest or uniform motion unless it is..."
"Seriously Kyle!" Jessie moaned, "Will you please shut up and eat!"
"Ok." Kyle murmured in retreat. He picked up his fork and a popped a mouthful of lasagna in his mouth. "I'm eating, happy?"
Jessie just glared at him but she couldn't stop the smile that was spreading across her face.
"I'll take it that you're happy then." Kyle smiled broadly. Jessica burst out laughing. When she mellowed down she panted between breaths. "You've got...you've got something in your teeth!" And she burst into a fresh round of guffaws.
Kyle sat there frowning. Well that wasn't the best thing for his ego and knowing Jess, she was probably going to tease him about it until he was six-feet under. Actually no, she wouldn't stop there she'll probably go on about it till Judgment Day- whenever that was.
"Oh come on Kyle!" she pleaded. "I had to command you to eat, must I command you to smile as well?"
"I wouldn't think so," he retorted gloomily, "Not now, especially since I've seen the end result of following one of your commands."
"Oh you are a definite bore!" she cried with an exasperated sigh.
He didn't care if she thought that. Scratch that. Actually he did care. He sincerely hoped that, that wasn't her opinion of him. It would totally destroy any plans he had of advancing their camaraderie to something more serious.
He loved Jess, he had always loved her. From the day he first saw her he had wished to whisk her off to some far away place where it would be just them two and the Heavens smiling down upon them. But she'd been totally anti-boys back then. Not that anything had changed. She was as uncompromising now as she had been back then, but he sensed that she was bored with her way of life and would probably soon be seeking a male companion. He knew that she wasn't ever going to think of choosing him. Not that he was bad-looking or anything, no, he was quite the contrary. But he knew she saw him as nothing more than a friend so he had to be the one to make the first move. He only hoped she would say yes...
