Tips on Using Internet Forums

Believe it or not there are certain ways to approaching a forum, many people think it's simply a case of: Sign up, verify email, then start posting!

I have been using forums for quite some time, and guess what, I have met a lot of individuals who do not know what to do in forums. Posting is easy, but what if you met a certain person who's making you feel intimidated or what if you are conscious of breaking some rules, like listing a website address in your posts?

Forum marketing is another game in internet marketing. It is a very tight
community where there are certain rules you must play by. It is essential you Know the Rules!

Every forum has its own rules, some may provide a very strict rules and some may not. But always make sure that you are doing what is right. Posting links would be a very hot issue in forum marketing, the major rule regarding this is that you are not aloud to blatantly advertise or promote your website. In fact, a forum is built to discuss certain topics with several individuals, not for promotional purposes.

Here are some tips for you:

1.) If you are new in a forum, check everything out and respect others!

Hey, you are new to the site, do not act like someone who is very influential in the forum. Always start pleasantly. Show people you have knowledge to share. One tip I have to say is that the first thing you do is do develop your image, credibility and your relationship with some individuals in that forum. Introduce yourself politely.

2.) Do not intimidate other people

You may be a pro in the marketing field, or someone who may be bit successful, but do not intimidate other people. It is very acceptable for you to comment or give your insights, but make sure that you dont step on other individuals credibility. Do not create a misunderstanding. It is good at times that you agree with them then just add information
and tips.

3.) Get to know some existing individuals and groups

It is good to talk with individuals who are popular in a forum. It is always beneficial to get to know these people because they may be the ones that can help you gain credibility quicker - since you know them and they like you others will trust their judgment.

4.) Always offer a hand

Some people normally go to forum whenever they have problems.
Do not be one of them! The worst thing you could do in forum marketing is to post whenever you have problems and queries. Assure yourself that you always lend a hand to individuals! Be the one who offers some help. By offering help to others it will increase your credibility

5.) Always read, read and read

In every forum, there will be a lot of Threads and Topics, browse as many discussions as you can. Do not just stick to one topic.

6.) Start a new topic on a regular basis

Most individuals normally visits an existing post. Its not bad to do that, but it would be very advisable that you start your own topic make it something current of of interest and give people a lot of information this way they will see you are a giver and not just a taker of information. Always remember, whenever you join a forum, be a contributor! Contribute as much information as you can, but again be polite in providing your information, never come across as a know it all!

Ok it's time to be realistic - many people use forums as a way to promote themselves and you will want to do this too, however you must be careful how you do it. Be discreet about it - people can tell right off if you are simply trying to promote or actually giving good information. Do not build an image of being a Spammer.

Take note:

Building a relationship with individuals should be your priority and goal. Once you have them close to you, you could easily sell them anything you want. In fact, once you became close to them, you can start getting their emails and contact numbers. See? You can promote once you get to know them personally.
