Tips On Making Flavored Coffee
This is about tips on how to make different types or flavors of coffee. Some are really simple and some you may have never thought of. So if you like coffee why not give them a try.
Coffee is delicious on its own but it blends in well with flavors to produce an even more appealing taste. Some coffee lovers use all natural flavors to flavor their coffee. However, majority of the people use the chemical sprays made in the laboratories. Arguably, these unnatural chemicals used to flavor coffee may not be so good for your health neither are they good to your coffee roaster. There are oils used to flavor the coffee beans which are very sticky and are almost impossible to remove from varied parts of your coffee roaster.
That not withstanding, as a coffee lover, you need not to worry because there are ways that you can apply and flavor your coffee without really affecting your roaster and to some extend without affecting your health unfavorably.
The first thing you can do is to select a natural flavor that is highly aromatic such as nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon sticks or rose petals. Use a small piece of netting or cheesecloth to wrap around ¼ cup of the flavoring agent of your choice. Put it where you store your coffee, be it the coffee jar or bag. Shake well the bag in order to allow the flavoring to be covered in the coffee beans. Store it airtight for one to two days.
Alternatively, you wish to increase the absorption rate of your coffee beans, heat the beans after spreading them on a flat layer sheet very briefly. After that, preheat the oven at a very low temperature and heat the beans for nearly five minutes. You then can put the heated beans in an airtight container together with your flavorings. Since beans are absorbent, they will pick up the flavors and the fragrance of the flavorings you have added in a few days.
Another tip that you can use that will not affect your coffee roaster is spicing up the beans before grinding them. It is a simple method to use although it takes a lot of time, but the end result is worth the waiting. Note that spicing beans work best while you are using whole spices that feature strong flavors.
Mix the whole spices, with freshly roasted beans in an air tight container and leave for 24 hours before you brew your coffee. You can leave for longer which will translate to a stronger flavor. It is advisable that you clean the grinder immediately after use because the flavors are so strong and may transfer the fragrance to the next batch of coffee that you would want to grind.
