Tips For Quitting Smoking Naturally

Here are some tips that will help you quit naturally - without the aid of potentially harmful substances.
The three tips for quitting smoking naturally presented here are not intended to get you over every rough period that you will experience along the way. They are merely presented to get you as prepared as possible for whatever comes along the way. It is a difficult experience to go through, but it is much cheaper and more effective than trying to quit with nicotine replacement products.

When it comes to quitting smoking naturally, I think the 3 W’s will help you out.

Why is the first W to consider. Why are you doing this? There has to be a compelling reason beyond someone else nagging you. It has to be personal.

The fear of cancer can be intense but it is usually not powerful enough to bring long term motivation. Wanting to prevent disease so you live long enough to meet your grandchildren would be more of a personal reason that could get you through difficult or tempting moments.

When is the second W that could help when it comes to quitting smoking naturally. Is right now a good time to do this? There will never be a really great time to give up the cigarettes, but you don't want to time it during an unusually stressful or emotional time of your life. That could set you up for failure unless you believe the nature of those emotions will spur you to keep with it even more.

Next comes "what if." What if you come home alone one night and have cravings? What if a hard day at work leaves you wanting to stop by the gas station on the way home? What if something really bad happens and you need something to comfort or calm you down?

You need to have alternative behaviors in mind for all the possible situations that could leave you wanting to smoke. You can never be 100% prepared, but have some idea of what you will do instead of smoking in as many situations as possible.

You may decide to go for a walk after dinner instead of lighting up as usual or take your kids to the park as a distraction on weekends. Other ideas are to exercise, talk on the phone, or take up a new hobby that keeps your hands busy.

Next, find out how to stop smoking naturally and easily.
