Tips for Getting Diabetes Under Control Naturally

You don't have to rely on medication and insulin injections to control your diabetes. There is quite a bit you can do with nutrition and exercise and other natural ways to get your diabetes in check.
Living with diabetes can be tough. Diabetes is a disease caused when the body does not properly produce enough insulin. There are two types of diabetes. Type one diabetes is where the body does not produce insulin and type two is where the body resists insulin. Greater majorities of those suffering from diabetes have Type II. In most cases, a person suffering with diabetes can control it with insulin and other prescription drugs. However, what do you do when you would like to control your diabetes naturally, rather than through chemical means? Luckily with today’s medical advances, and research this dilemma is a fairly easy one to solve.

There are many ways that you can naturally control the diabetic issues you face. A couple given ways of doing so would be to watch what you eat, and get plenty of exercise. You know that as a diabetic you will need to limit the amount of sugars and high fat items that are a part of your daily diet. Also helpful would be to eat small meals during the day, rather than three big ones. There are also herbs available that can reduce the effects of diabetes. Vitamin supplements have also been frequently used.

There are also some everyday foods that are thought to help with certain diabetic symptoms. Both garlic and onion are thought to significantly lower blood sugar. As for prevention, it is also said that taking a spoonful of cinnamon per day can help to prevent the onset of diabetic symptoms. The cinnamon, which comes from tree bark, works by making cells more responsive to insulin.

A study done in Toronto, Canada, showed results that taking ginseng before a meal helped to lower blood sugar levels. Of course when setting out to try and treat your diabetes in a more natural way it is important that you consult your doctor and make sure that he agrees with what you are doing and monitors you closely. You may still need some medication in addition to what you are doing naturally in order to stabilize your blood sugar, but it is a good chance that you will not have to be dependent on insulin.
