Tips for Frightful Halloween Party Foods
Are you looking for some special unique Halloween party foods for the coming scariest party of the year?

Every Halloween party needs treats and most everyone has at least one sweet tooth.

Cupcakes are always a favorite but the decorating is what will make it a hit or miss. Skip the simple orange colored frosting with sprinkles and get creative. You can create monsters, bugs and even pumpkins out of those cupcakes.

You will need food coloring for green monsters, orange for pumpkins and black or a dark shade of gray for the bugs. Candy dots or small lifesavers make great eyes, gummy bears or worms (mangled) are good noses and string licorice (all colors) make great mouths, hair and whiskers or wings. A few dots of tube icing works nicely for scars and eyebrows.

If you’re making a main meal, I suggest green baked ziti.

You can buy green noodles at any supermarket. Just be sure to set a few cups of cooked noodles aside and after you put the ziti together mash up the remaining green noodles and place them on the top. It is gross looking but tasty and a nice addition to the Halloween party food.

Red punch is a must two cans of Hawaiian punch and a 2 liter bottle of ginger ale. Pick up a few Halloween themed ice cube trays and be sure to serve a few floating bugs or little fingers in each glass.

Vegetables and fruit trays usually go over well for all age groups. Pick up a few Halloween stencils (small ones) at a craft store and cut the fruit and vegetables into Halloween shapes. If you use thick pieces of sliced sharp cheese and don’t mind a little waste you can add some Halloween shaped cheese to the platter as well.

And don’t forget the candy!

There isn’t much you can do to candy so you need to create a unique way to serve the candy. My personal favorite is placing the candy in a couple of large pans with lids. In one pan you put the candy at the bottom of the pan and a pop out hand on top of it. When the lid is lifted the hand pops out!

Also you could try a no peek candy grabbing pan if they want candy that they can’t look in the pan. Place some cold oatmeal in a pan and let them try. Then find the candy of course there won’t be any in there, but after they clean up be sure to give the brave ones a large size candy bar for their troubles.

Halloween is the only time of the year you can get away with serving "gross" looking food! So you might as well have fun with serving Halloween party foods!
