Frank Sinatra, a very popular American singer as well as an award-winning actor has had a large fan following till date. He has several acclaimed albums to his credit. His romantic tracks caused quite a flutter in the hearts of millions of young girls all over. Here is the timeline of Frank Sinatra, which records many important events in his life.

Timeline of Frank Sinatra:
1915: Francis Albert Sinatra, popularly known as Frank Sinatra was born on December 12, 1915.

1935: This year records Frank Sinatra’s earliest paying jobs. This was his first break at the Hoboken Union Club. He joined hands with another singing group called The Three Flashes. They later renamed themselves as the Hoboken Four. This was the time when they appeared on a show as well called the Major Bowes Amateur Hour which won then a six month contract to perform live on stage as well as radio.

Later on Frank Sinatra left the Hoboken Four the same year and it was his mother who ensured he had a job as a singing waiter at the Rustic Cabin in New Jersey.

1939: This year marks the first recording for Frank Sinatra which was done in co-ordination with the Frank Mane band. The song was titled Our Love. He also secured a contract for one year.

Later on that year, Frank Sinatra was approached by Tommy Dorsey to join his band.

1940: Frank Sinatra joined Dorsey’s band. This was also the time when Frank Sinatra also debuted in the film, Las Vegas nights.

1941: This year, in the month of May, Frank Sinatra reached the top position of the male singer polls in magazines such as Billboard and Downbeat.

1942: Frank Sinatra recorded his first solo tracks in the month of January. He left the Dorsey band during the later half of the year. The craze for Frank Sinatra is known to have begun in the month of December when he opened at the Paramount theatre, which was in New York.

1943: This year saw the re-release of an album recorded earlier which turned out to be the best selling hits for 18 weeks and reached the top slot in the month of June. This year, Frank Sinatra also signed a contract with Columbia Records on June 1. He tasted success in this period.

1944: Frank Sinatra returned to Paramount in the month of October. This was time a large fan following created quite a rage outside this venue.

1945: Frank Sinatra co-starred with Gene Kelly in the Anchors Aweigh. He also starred in a short film called The House I Live In, which also won him a special Academy Award.

1946: This year, Frank Sinatra had the release of his first album called The Voice of Frank Sinatra. This year also marked the debut of his weekly radio show.

1948: Frank Sinatra himself felt his career was slightly on the decline.

1949: Frank Sinatra starred in the film Take Me Out to the Ball Game which got him much success.

1950: He retuned to the concert stage on January 12. This was the time when Frank Sinatra’s popularity went on a decline.

1951: This year, in the month of September, Frank Sinatra made his debut at the Desert Inn. In the month of November, Sinatra married Eva Gardener.

1953: Frank Sinatra and Eva Gardener split this year. This year, his career saw a turnaround due to the drama-From Here to Eternity. Besides, he also won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also signed a contract with Capitol Records.

1955: This year saw the release of In the Wee Small Hours.

1960: Frank Sinatra began his own label called Reprise Records.

1961: His album, Ring-A-Ding-Ding was quite successful this year.

1962: He collaborated with Count Basie for the album titled Sinata-Basie.

1966: His first live album was recorded in the months of January and February and was called as Sinatra at the Sands.

1967: He began a series of recording sessions with Antonio Carlos Jobim. He also had a chart-topping duet later that year with his daughter Nancy.

1970: This year saw the release of Watertown, one of Frank Sinatra’s popular concept albums.

1971: Frank Sinatra made an announcement about his retirement.

1973: Frank Sinatra appeared on a television special as well as an album.

1974: He returned to Las Vegas to perform at Caesar’s Palace.

1979: He performed for Anwar Sadat and celebrated 40 years of show business along with his 64th birthday.

1980: This year saw the release of his first album in six years – Trilogy: Past Present Future.

1983: Frank Sinatra was one of the five recipients at the Kennedy Center Honors.

1990: This year, he celebrated his 75th birthday. He was also awarded the second Ella Award.

1993: Frank Sinatra surprised everyone with his return to Capitol Records.

1994: This was the year that saw Frank Sinatra’s final public concerts. He was also awarded the Legend Award at the 1994 Grammy Award.

1995: Frank Sinatra sang before a live audience at a private party.

1998: Frank Sinatra passed away on May 14 at the age of 82. A lot of tributes were held in his memory.
