Suddenly Pritam came out of his trance. 18-year-old Pritam smiled at the twins and urged them to take a seat.
When the children refused and instead asked him the cause of his worry, he said nothing but instead led them to the farthest corner of the junk store.
"Friends, it's a matter of confidence and I hope you won't betray my trust. Early morning today, as I was strolling near the city canal with my metal detector, suddenly the detector started beeping urgently, like it'd never done before. This was not its normal beep. Nevertheless, I set to work, digging the soft dewey mud to extract the cause of this strange beeping. Yeah, I was really nervous. What I found was this," said Pritam, pointing a shaking finger on some object that was fully concealed with a dusty black cloth.
Clueless, the twins looked at each other, as though seeking an answer, and then looked back, utterly bewildered, at Pritam again.
"Can we see it please?" Asked Sid.
"Well, yes you can. Its nothing dangerous, but let me tell you guys - its weird. It is making an eerie sound at regular intervals", said Pritam pausing to take a breadth.
"Since morning I'm trying to identify the metal used to make this object, but with no apparent success. What I can tell you is that- yes it's definitely a metal. But which? I can't categorize it. HUH, all my knowledge on electronics seems vain today," concluded a dejected Pritam with a sigh.
