Tiger Woods Goes Wire to Wire at Doral

Tiger Woods led all four rounds of the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship at Doral, cruising to his second victory of the season.
Tiger Woods is starting to look familiar to golf fans who watched him dominate the sport for the majority of the last 15 years. Tiger has struggled to overcome injuries and personal troubles over much of the last few years, during which time newcomers like Rory McIlroy have emerged to challenge Woods for the title of Best Player in the World. Those who watch the sport closely knew that if Tiger returned to form, he would easily reclaim his position as the best player on the planet - and it seems like that is about to happen.

Woods was never seriously challenged over the final two rounds of the World Golf Championship event at Doral, eventually holding a four-shot lead heading into the final two holes. Woods would play conservatively down the stretch, finishing with two bogeys on seventeen and eighteen, but still won the tournament by two strokes over Steve Stricker. Ironically, Woods credits Stricker with a putting tip earlier in the week that Woods believes made all the difference. Tiger set a personal best with only 100 putts during his four rounds.

And while many have wondered openly whether Tiger would ever regain his old form, Woods always seemed confident in himself even when his game was erratic. Now, however, he may have turned the corner. "I felt that towards the end of last year that I was heading in that direction where things were becoming better," he said. "I feel like my game's becoming more efficient, and it's more consistent day-in and day-out." If Tiger is consistent with his play, the rest of the PGA Tour could be in trouble.
