Measure the sides of your throw pillow, in order to determine the size of the fabric that you need for making the covers. Regular square shaped throw pillow measures about 16 inches x 18 inches. Measure the size and add ¾ inches to each side of a square pillow. If you are using square pillow then add ¾ inches in the fabric for the entire perimeter. Then cut the fabric by carefully marking the correct measurements. Always mark on the reverse side of the fabric and then cut out each piece of fabrics. Join the pieces together with sewing machine or by hand. You need to join only three side of the fabric pieces, so that you can place a pillow inside the cover.
If you want to add lace or any decorative item to the cover, then do that carefully between the two right sides of the cover. Avoid using opposite sides, since it may ruin the appearance of that item. Then is the time to install zipper, to the opening side of the pillow cover. For that, fold down ¾ inches edge of the fabric and install the zippers. Just make sure that the zipper pull is facing the inner side of the cover, since you are going to get the right side out. In case you want to add tassels, then you need to sew them on once you are done with sewing the covers. You can also do some embroidery or patchwork on the front side of the pillow cover to make it look even more decorative!
