Throw a Fun Child's Birthday Party for Less than $15

Some parents go a little nuts when it comes to hosting their child's birthday party. When buying the newest, trendiest items in the store, the expense can get totally out of control. Many parents will often spend a large chunk of money on fancy party decorations alone.

The fact is that children just want to have fun and don't really care about having a fancy party. Children, especially younger ones, aren't the least bit interested in frivolous things. I admit, they are nice, and your child may thank you, but after that they won't pay any attention to them again.

There are really only a few things that interest a kid on their birthday. The top three interests are presents, cake and playing with their friends as long as they can.

If you would rather spend that extra money on a nice present for your child, instead of wasting it on all the fancy gadgetry that goes along with a child's party, try out some of these tips. You can easily throw a very fun party for your child for under $15.

Make the cake yourself. Kids don't care about fancy cake decorating. What they want is to blow out candles and eat as much cake as they can. Blowing out candles is a lot of fun, so buy the inexpensive package of multiple candles, instead of a single birthday candle in the form of a number. Save the candles to use again next year. Kids won't care if they have reused candles on their cake or not.

Purchase plain white paper plates and cups. There is simply no need to buy the more expensive plates, cups and forks. Kids are just as happy drinking and eating from plain white cups and plates. If the party is being held in your own home, save yourself some money and use your own dinnerware. It won't cost you anything, and the children attending the party will be just as happy.

Don't buy a lot of soft drinks. There is no need. Make a couple of pitchers of Kool-Aid instead. The kids will still be happy, and you will have saved quite a bit of money. Try to make your child's favorite flavor since it is their special day.

Don't buy expensive party decorations. Skip them altogether, or let your child make them with you ahead of time. Kids have a wonderful time working with crafts. Make your own decorations or banners to hang from the wall or ceiling.

Give the kids balloons instead of party favors. Pick up bags of inexpensive balloons. Let the children blow them up and decorate them with markers. They will have a lot of fun doing this. The kids can take them home when the party is over, instead of expensive party favors.

Watch a kid's movie. When a child's birthday falls during cold weather, or if it rains that day and they can't play outside, provide the group of partygoers with a suitable kid's movie to watch. Make plenty of popcorn to go along with the movie. Even if they don't watch the movie, they will be happy to devour the popcorn. To save even more money, pop you own popcorn instead of buying the microwave type.

Have the party at a park. Consider having the party a park, if your child's birthday falls during warm weather. Choose one that has a roof shelter in case of rain. A park with a playground is a bonus, but not necessary. The kids will still have loads of have fun playing together. You can get the cake and inexpensive paper plates and cups ready while the kids are running around playing.

As long as a kid has friends to play with and plenty of cake to eat, they will have a great birthday party. It doesn't matter how little or how much you spend. I remember having wonderful birthday parties when I was a kid. I didn't expect anything other than friends and cake, and we all had a really great time together. I don't think children have changed very much over the years. A kid is a kid. Go ahead and throw them an inexpensive party. Don't stress yourself over not wanting to throw an extravagant party. Your child really will thank you for it.
