Three Brothers, a King, and a Mother

Might be some sort of fairy tale?
Once there were three brothers. They lived close to fancy China where silk was plentiful. They were young, handsome, and poor. The oldest was Toy, The 2nd was Soy, and the third was Roy. Their mother a kind widow and she made a living by sewing and selling silk into handkerchiefs but she was getting old and her eyesight was getting worst day by day. One day, the poor widow asked her oldest son to go and buy some food and silk for his family. "Yes mother, I will." He replied.

Halfway to the market, a mosquito landed on one of his shoulders, close to his ear. The mosquito said to him, "Why are you not at the door of the palace?"

"Why should I be?" The oldest son answered back. "There is nothing big happening...is there?"

"OH! Have you not heard that the king had put up a notice saying it is the time for the princess to wed? And he wants every young man from sixteen to nineteen years of age to be at the palace gate by midnight to-night."

"If that's so, I must get going. I am nineteen. I must leave right now to get there on time."

"Thank you for telling me, my little friend."

"Oh! But before you go, I want to ask you this, Do you have any questions? If you don't, go on."

At home, the poor mother was still waiting for the return of Toy. When he didn't, she went to her 2nd son and asked him if he would go buy food and silk and information about his older brother. "I'd be honored, my dear mother," he replied back.

Halfway to the market, he met the mosquito his brother had met half an hour ago. The 2nd son, Soy chatted with the mosquito and their conversation was the same except that instead of saying he was nineteen, he said he was eighteen. Then, the second son also left the trail and went on his way to the palace.

The poor mother was growing worried by now. Two of her sons left and haven't come back. She didn't want to want to ride to town because she was too old and weak. Her only chance to find out what happened to her 1st and 2nd son and to get food and supplies for her family was to send the youngest son, Roy to go even if there is a large chance that what happened to Toy and Soy might happen to Roy too. But she finally decided to take the risk. That was how Roy got the same quest his brothers failed at.

The mosquito's visit happened a third time but instead of heading toward the castle after the conversation, he went to the market and got all the things needed just before the stores closed. Then went home to tell his mother where he, Toy, and Soy will be. The mother was very glad to see him and hear the news the mosquito had just told him. Just before Roy set out on his trip to the palace, his mother said to him, "Good luck can be special especially if it was given by a loving mother to her son just before a trip," smiled and said, "Good luck".

By weaving through the crowd, Roy got to the palace just in time to be the last person to get inside the palace before the door closed behind him.

Inside, they were in an enormous room filled with at least a hundred chairs and half as many tables. The young men in line had a gorgeous and enormous meal before the king said, "To decide who is going to be the husband of my beautiful daughter, I will ask you 3 questions. The one remaining is going to marry my daughter. If more than one passes, my daughter will choose."

The king's question were all trick questions and many man gave the wrong answer and had to leave with a sigh though somehow, it turned out that all three brothers made it to the last question with 12 other young man.

After a pause, the king said, "My final question is to be answered by a man who has a loving mother and respects his family." At the mention of family, Roy noticed from the corner of his eye that a guilty look ran across both Toy and Soy's face.

"When is luck at its peak?"

Instantly, Roy knew he had the answer.

"When a kind mother gives her blessing from her heart." Though he was the last to answer, he was the only to pass. The others were disappointed but they were good men and the king invited them to the royal wedding. There they met the princess. With her long golden hair shining in the light, she was a magnificent sight. Roy and the princess came to love each other. Toy and Soy went back to their mother, apologized and was forgiven. The mother lived happily and relaxed for the rest of her life.
