Those Anxious Moments...............

She was holding the little ones close to her bosom.
The beautiful buds were getting ready to blossom.
Within home, they were learning to talk and walk.
She was ever alert to protect them from the huge hawk.
Will her nest survive questioned her worried gaze.
Seeing the tree cutters, she went in to utter daze.
Fear of being homeless was driving the mother crazy.
Twig by twig, she built her home, warm and cosy.
That hay bed inside was her babies’ favourite.
Nestling in this heaven was their happiness ultimate.
Perching on tree top, her house aroused envy!
Her pride will be razed down was the sad story.
Her tree will be cut at any time from now.
She hoped for some miracle to happen somehow!
The cutting tools were given the final check.
Felling was to begin with his finger’s click.
Suddenly, the chief’s eyes fell on her babes and nest.
Compassion and warmth in them stopped the worst.
She was overwhelmed with gratitude towards him.
Repeated cooing expressed her thanks to that gem!
Mother bird showered hugs and kisses on her chicks.
They were reciprocated by a series of pecks.
Little did those ‘tinys’ know about the averted disaster!
Their chatter and chirp erased those anxious moments of the mother!!!!!
