'This Is It' - New Michael Jackson Single to Premier Online on 12th October

Monday, October 12, 2009, will see the release of Michael Jackson's much-awaited single 'This Is It'. The much talked about song will be released on his official website. The song was reportedly written in 1991, for Jackson's album 'Dangerous', but it did not make it to the final track list of the album. The recorded version of the single that will be released next week has Jackson's brothers getting behind the microphone for the backup vocals.

There is another version of the single - an orchestral version, and both versions of the single are included in a new 2-Disc companion CD set. In addition to the two versions of 'This Is It', disc one also includes original album masters of some of Jackson's biggest hits. The track list boasts of songs like 'Thriller', 'Black or White', 'They Don't Care About Us', 'Man in The Mirror', 'Billie Jean', 'Earth Song' and a few more. Disc two features unreleased demo versions of some Michael Jackson classics such as 'She's Out of My Life', 'Wanna Be Startin' Something' and 'Beat It'. It also includes a previously unreleased, spoken word poem named 'Planet Earth', which was written by Jackson himself.

The release of the new single will be followed by the release of the special Michael Jackson documentary film on October 28. The documentary film, also titled 'This Is It', will run for a limited period of two weeks in almost every corner of the world. The documentary has been put together using video footage gathered from Jackson's rehearsals for his much-awaited comeback concerts. The series of concerts were to kick off in London in the month of July, but were halted due to his unexpected death. Michael Jackson died in Los Angeles on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50.
