This HEART, it BEATS, BEATS for Only You

A poem I wrote about a past relationship.
I attached myself to you,
Allowed you to breathe for me,
When I could not.
I let you inside and our souls
Intertwined.
I was one half of a whole.
I felt filled.

You saved me time and again,
Because I never learned to save myself.
Now you have left me.
And you are still whole.
But I am left with a gaping whole
Where my life was;
My heart.

Now I can no longer breathe.
Now I can't make it on my own.
I am one half.
One half of Nothing.
My soul is lost,
And I am alone.
Empty.

I should have never made you my everything.
I should have known,
giving you everything would leave me with
Nothing.
