Think Twice Before Buying A New Bathtub

Bathtubs endure daily use and accumulate quite a lot of wear and tear. Your tub will often start getting scratched, cracked or even gouged. Eventually, enough is enough and something has to be done. The easiest choice is to buy a new tub, but there are some drawbacks:

* New bathtubs will hurt your wallet quite a bit.
* You will need to pay a professional to remove the old tub.
* Similarly, bathtub installation requires some skill, so you will probably need to hire someone again.
* The removal and installation process is time consuming, sometimes taking a couple of weeks, so you will not be able to use your tub.

Before you buy a new bathtub, examine some of the other choices available.

Alternatives To Replacing Your Bathtub

1. Repainting: You can have your tub repainted. Kits for doing it yourself are available, but if you're not handy, it would be better to find a pro. Even if you hire someone, this will usually be done in a day, and beats buying a new tub. This is an easy way to give your bathtub a great new look.

2. Bathtub Refinishing: This is probably the most reliable way to give your tub another twenty years of life. This is also a rather quick option completed in a day.

3. Bathtub Liners: A liner, or new outer surface, is another quick way to make your tub look great.

4. Bath Tub Surrounds: While this does not do anything to the tub itself, the area around it looks better.

There are several easier and cheaper alternatives to replacing a tub, but sometimes, it is simply the best choice.
