Things You Should do in Byron Bay

Going to Byron Bay? Count yourself as lucky, very lucky! It's not just the ultimate holiday spot with sandy white beaches that languidly stretch on for miles and miles, it's not only a place where you'll find a wind-calm beach when others are wind-strewn... It's a place that offers as much to do away from the water as it does close to the water. Want to know more? Read on.
Ready? Set. Peddle!
Byron Bay is the setting for some of the most picturesque settings in Australia. It's true. That's why many writers live there. It's why many mountain biking fanatics won't go anywhere else. And it's why you should remember to pack your puncture kit and water bottle before you go.

Mountain biking trips are offered by a number of established professionals and companies in the area. Think tracks, coastal rides and fire trails, think hidden backcountry tracks in the awe-inspiring Hinterland of Byron Bay. It's an experience that should be had and will not only let you work those muscles, but exercise your brain, too. Learn about the local plant- and animal wildlife on your way to secluded waterfalls and other interesting spots. Best of all, you don't even need to bring your own bike (though be sure to check that there is one available before you go).

Circus, Anyone?
A change is as good as a vacation, so they say. Joining the circus for a day will not only provide your laughing-muscles with some excellent exercise, but could be that one event that will change your life.

You don't have to be a clown, you just need to show up. The Circus Skills sessions are held at one of the top training centres in Australia with an auditorium capable of holding up to 1,100 people and a full-size indoor flying trapeze. These classes are for anyone of any age (alright, you'll have to be at least five years of age) who would like to do something hilarious, daring or just plain odd at least once in their lives.

Have a Whale of a Time
When people think about Australia, they often think about surfers, sharks and coral reef. Byron bay has all that and something else that's really, really big and remains a hit regardless of how much you've experienced it.

As they migrate, Australia's east coast Humpback whales pass just off the coast of Cape Byron, making it one of the most prominent whale watching spots in Australia. While it might be a good idea to bring your binoculars, those with good eyesight will be able to see these giants frolic in the water at just a couple of hundred meters off shore.

Verti-Go!
Afraid of heights? This could be just the thing to help you overcome your fear! Microlight flying will literally give you a bird's-eye view of the place you're visiting and the ocean, too.

It is said to be one of the fastest growing recreational sports in the world, and with good reason: aside from being affordable and safe, it gives you the chance to do something in defiance of that entity that affects us all: gravity.

Before You Go…
As you can see, Byron Bay has something to offer even the most hardy adventurer out there. To get a full list of possible activities, be sure to do some research before you go. And remember: this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so choose something that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

Byron Bay has a number of amazing beaches, but has just as many, if not more, fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. We’ve listed some of the more popular activities suitable for the young, old, adventurous and daring!
