Trendy Things That Can be Made With Duct Tape
1. Cell Phone Case
One of the things to make with duct tape is a cell phone case. It is useful and can be made to complement your outfits. You'll need tape, cell phone, velcro tape and a pair of scissors. Here's the procedure.
Procedure
Step 1: Firstly, get the cell phone for which you want to make a case. Now, get a tape of the desired color, texture and broad enough. You can make one to match one of your outfits or purse.
Step 2: Hold the cell phone vertical. Now, circle the tape around your phone to cover it completely, except its top and bottom part. Remember to keep the sticky side out!
Step 3: Now, cover the bottom with the tape, sticky side out. Also, make sure it overlaps on the horizontal circle. Ensure that the cell phone is completely covered, except the top.
Step 4: Now, take a tape for the final touch. Overlap it thoroughly, keeping the sticky side in, over the previous tape. Ensue that it is perfectly overlapped. Now just the top part is left open.
Step 5: Take a ten inch long strip of the tape, about 1½ - 2 inches wide, depending upon the width of your cell phone. Fold it in half, to make it 5 inches in length.
Step 6: Stick a velcro strip on the upper-side of the case. Stick other part of velcro on the flap. Now attach the flap on the backside of the case using a tape piece and then bring it on front side of the case, hence close the flap. A wonderful, inexpensive cell phone case is ready.
2. Belt
A jazzy belt can be used in many ways to have a modish look. You can wear it over a dress, jeans, tunics and give a unique touch to the apparel. You might be spending lot of bucks in buying some expensive belts for each outfit. So here's a way to make this piece of fashion accessory yourself, in an inexpensive way. To make a duct tape belt you'll need tape (width and color as desired), belt buckle, ruler.
Procedure
Step 1: Start by measuring your waist. Measure the width of the belt loops also.
Step 2: Take a long strip of the tape. Now, fold it at its center, sticky sides will go in, and overlap. You''ll have a tape of half the size of what you had. Press it properly so that no bubbles appear. Remember that the folded strip must now be a few inches longer than your waist.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 to have a similar strip again.
Step 4: Next, repeat step 2 to have one more strip of same size. This time keep the sticky side out.
Step 5: Now, place all three strips over each other. The one you made in step 4, will go in-between the rest two. A thick belt is ready.
Step 6: If the belt is wider than the loops, cut of the extra width from it.
Step 7: Now, take a stylish buckle and insert the belt in it and secure it using small strips of the tape. So, just get ready to flaunt it with a contrast or matching tunic.
You can make wallets, craft items and many other things with a duct tape. Not only are these easy to make, these are also light on the pocket. All you need to do is find the right color, be creative and try out various crafts. Have fun!
