They are Equal!!

It is about the rights which every child should have.
They are Equal!!
It was 5.30 in the morning; I woke as soon as the alarm rang. I went to Reni’s room, my three and half year’s old daughter whose was the first day in school today. I stroked her hair and tried to wake her up for the school but she cuddled around me and slept. I had to lift her up in my arm and take her to the bathroom. I made her brush teeth forcefully and she made faces as if I gave something very bitter in her mouth. She had bath on her own and then we she saw her new school dress, her eyes twinkled with joy. I could see a feeling of confidence in her naughty eyes that told me she is now a grown up girl. She was very enthusiastic about going to school. As she was playing with her books, I asked her to come out soon for the breakfast. I came to the kitchen to prepare her favorite sandwich but then only my eyes went outside my kitchen window. I could see kukki's mother calling her to go to work. Kukki was of the same as my daughter but she could not play in her mother's arm, she could not go to school, but had to go to a near by tea stall to work. This four year old girl was in no way different from my daughter... she had the same naughty smile and twinkle in her eyes. She was dragging herself unwillingly to work. Her mother too loved her but ...could not send her to school, could not give her all those things that every child has the right to get. She had to go to the tea stall, wash all the cups, and serve tea to the customers. A four year old who could barely wash her face had to do this job. Why such a difference... why cannot every child, whether rich or poor has the right to go to school and the necessities of life, so that he or she gets a fair chance to make his or her life. They all are equal as they are children.

All children are innocent, trusting, and full of hope. Their childhood should be happy and loving. Their lives should mature gradually, as they gain new experiences. However, for many children like kukki, the reality of childhood is altogether different. They also have to work like their elders to keep on living.
Children have been abused and exploited. They suffer from hunger and homelessness; work in harmful conditions, high infant mortality, deficient health care and limited opportunities for basic education. A child need not live such a life. Childhood can and must be preserved. Children should have the right to survive, develop, be protected, and participate in decisions that affect their lives.
Children should get their four basic rights. The right to survival is the most important one, which covers right to life, health, nutrition, name, and nationality. Then right to development which covers right to education, care, leisure and recreation then right to protection from exploitation, abuse and neglect and right to participation which covers right to expression, information , thought and religion is given I believe every child has the potential to become a national assets and make human beings proud.
In order to make this possible every adult has to take an initiative and make every child you come across happy and satisfied. If they cannot take up the responsibility, they should take up the child to such people or organizations that do such work. In this way, we can avoid seeing any poor child working and begging.
