Then You Were Gone

I'm also writing this on the spot. It's about someone close to me who recently lost someone they love, and he needs love and support to make it through his hard times.
I thought you were forever
And it really seemed that way,
Until the day you left me,
That day you turned away.
Were were all a family,
Just us, a perfect three,
But I guess that you thought otherwise,
Or you'd still be here with me.
Some people think it's hopeless
To trust in the ones you hold dear,
But that's just how you find them out,
That's what makes love clear.
The people you've had always,
The ones that are faithful to you,
They will always be there to hold you close,
We can see these hard times through.
