The Wrong Side of the Track Ch.13

"Janelle"
"Sorry I felt left out"

The girl next to Marcus said she was tall, black and gorgeous. She was probably the reason he cancelled our date, i felt my stomach dropped.

"Audrey Janelle, Janelle-"
"Audrey, we got it ha-ha nice to meet you" she said
"Nice to meet you too"
"So I’m guessing you’re the Audrey who-"

Before she could finish her sentence Marcus nudged her.

"Well I gotta get going nice to meet you Janelle bye Marcus" I walked steadily across the parking lot to my car.
"Audrey, Audrey wait" I heard Marcus yell

I ignored him got in my car and drove away. When I got home i just sat in my car until Derek came outside and knocked on the window.

"Audrey what’s wrong"
"Nothing" I lied "just thinking and giving you and Jasmine some more time together"
"Oh well she’s gone"

Derek opened my door and we both went into the house.

"I cooked some spaghetti wanna come eat with me"
"Nah, I think I’m gonna go to sleep"
"But it’s only 5:30"
"I know I’m really tired"
"nope your gonna sit here eat and we're gonna reminisce about the good ol' times"

He grabbed me by the wrist and led me to the kitchen I sat on the counter while he made our plates.

"Why do you look so sad" he asked
"Nothing I care to talk about right now" I replied
"Okay I understand but turn that frown upside down" he said as he threw a noodle at me

I reached my hand into the pot of noodles and threw some back at him. Soon we were in a full out food fight.

"What are you doing ha-ha that’s your dinner what are you gonna eat" he said

I grabbed a couple of noodles off his shirt and ate them

"They're a little cold" I joked
"Oh really" he said and grabbed another hand full and put it down my shirt

"No really what are we gonna eat now" he said
"How does pizza sound" I asked
"Great"
"And Derek thanks"
"For what"
"Being a great friend"
"Anytime sweetheart" he bent over and kissed me on the forehead
"I’ll go order the pizzas" I said and ran to the phone

For the rest of the night me and Derek ate pizza and watched movies till we both fell asleep. When I woke up I smelled pancakes and bacon, Derek was cooking breakfast.

"What time is" I asked
"10:30 and good morning"
"Good morning to you too"
"Some place called Madison’s boutique called and said your dress is ready to be picked up"
"Oh great I’ll pick it up later"
"After breakfast right"
"Of course"

I ran upstairs and got in the shower and, dressed when I came back down Derek already had our plates on the table.

"D this looks so good" I said
"Then eat up I have a big day planned for us" he said
"Really and what do you have planned"
"Well I thought we’d hit up the mall and well truthfully I have no idea after that but we can do whatever you want"
"The mall sounds great"
"And I hope you don’t mind but I –"

There was a knock at the door

"Hold on let me get the door"

I ran and opened the door it was jasmine, Derek walked up behind me.

"I invited jasmine to come along I hope you don’t mind"
"I have no problem with it" I lied and invited her in i didn't feel up to being the third wheel.

When we were done eating Derek excused his self to get ready. He said it was a chance for us to get to know each other.

"So how long have you known Derek" she asked
"Uh since we were little kids" I answered
"That’s so cute"
"Yeah, so how long have you know Derek"
"About a year but we only been dating for 5 months"
"Yeah I think he told me that and I must say you lived up to his description"
"Thank you I hope that’s a good thing"
"Of course"

Then there was another knock on the door

"One moment please" I said to jasmine

I walked over to the door and opened it. I couldn’t believe who was at the door.

"Marcus what are you doing here"
"Look I think I owe you an explanation" he said
"No you don’t owe me anything I think I owe you one"
"I don’t disagree with that but I owe you one too"
"Um come in"
"I’d prefer to talk to you alone"

I turned around and saw Derek and jasmine staring at us

"Uh sure lets step outside"
"So look Audrey the girl you saw me with yesterday was-"
"Like I said you don’t owe me an explanation but-"
"No Audrey just listen ok she was my best friend"
"Your best friend"
"Yes and I just really needed to kick it with her cause I was-"
"Upset…….at me"
"Yeah sorta"
"And I want to explain that the kiss you saw between me and tony I couldn’t control he kissed me"
"So ya’ll aren't together again"
"No not at all"
"So can I was hoping i could reschedule our date to right now"
"I’m actually suppose to be going out with my friend and his girlfriend"
"Well maybe some other time then shawty"
"No wait you can come with us so I don’t have to feel like a third wheel"
"Alright" he flashed that cute half smile and we headed back in the house

"Derek I hope you don’t mind but I invited Marcus to come along"
"No problem I’m Derek and this is jasmine"
"Supp Derek, Jasmine"
"Let’s get going"

We all piled into Derek’s Chrysler 300 and went to the mall. We walked around for hours me and jasmine went in every store and tried on tons of clothes while Derek and Marcus just told us we looked nice. I spent about 500 dollars on clothes and accessories jasmine spent double that turns out she is a model. After we were done at the mall we headed to Madison’s boutique to pick up my dress. Of course I tried it before I took it home just to make sure it was a perfect. My dress was a gorgeous black cashmere dress with a high slit on the right side with a low cut neck and back. I stepped out of the changing room.

"Wow Audrey you look amazing"
"Thanks Derek"
"Audrey it looks great"
"Thanks Jasmine"
"Marcus what do you think"
"Shawty you look gorgeous"
"I’m glad you think so because I was kinda hoping you’d be my escort to the party"
"i can't say no to the birthday girl now can I"

On our way to the house we saw a fair and decided to go.

"4 wristbands please" Derek asked
"wristbands are 40 bucks each that’ll be 160 dollars" the Ticketmaster said popping her gum ever so often.
"My treat" Marcus said and handed the lady 200 dollars.

We waited for the wrist bands and his change and somehow Katie popped into my head "he looks like a drug dealer". There was no way Marcus was a drug dealer he seemed nothing like the drug dealers you see on television. He was too sweet, nice, and caring, Marcus put the wristband on me and I just stared in his beautiful grey eyes. I wasn’t gonna let her racism affect the way I look at him I know he’s not.

"You ready" he asked
"Yup"

We rode every ride at least twice we were at the fair for hours. we finally got home around 9. We all sat around and talked for a while but jasmine got tired and went home so Derek went to bed.

"Well it’s getting late so I’m gonna head home" Marcus said
"Alright and thanks for coming with me today"
"No problem , I had fun so see ya tomorrow shawty"
"See ya tomorrow Marcus"
"Yo Audrey"
"Yeah"
"goodnight"

Marcus leaned in and kissed me. His lips were big and juicy they felt so good against mine. His kiss was better than any other I’ve ever had. The kiss was over but my eyes were still closed. He was at the bottom step to my house before I composed myself.

"Goodnight"

The next morning I woke up with a smile on my face. I got up and got ready for school. I couldn’t wait to get to school and see Marcus again. I got to school 15 minutes early so I went to my locker to make sure I looked okay. When I opened my locker there was a note in it. I picked it up and prayed it was from Marcus I opened it fast and read it:

My smile turned to a frown and my heart filled with despair. I don’t know what to do what do I tell him.
