The Wrong Side of the Track Ch.10

We walked into the library and sat at the table farthest from tony. I tried to ignore the fact that tony was there but it was hard with Katie trying to talk to Dawson. Dawson was very tall 6’3 very fit he was on the basketball and football team. Dawson had beautiful eyes they were bluish green but they were always covered by his long black hair to say he was good looking would be an understatement. Since the beginning of school when him and tony enrolled here Katie has had a crush on him. She saw me and tony dating as a way to get closer to him.

"Hey Dawson why are you here" Katie said

I remained seated at my table and ignored the fact that tony was here. I thought I felt Katie leave the table but out the corner of my eye I saw a figure next to me.

"Audrey can I talk to you"

Ugh it was Tony

"No"
"Please Audrey 2 minutes"
"Fine tony talk"
"Okay I just wanted to apologize about yesterday I had no right to question your-"
"1 minute 30 seconds"
"right umm I deserve that but I had no right to say you didn’t love me"
"1 minute tony wrap it up"
"I know you did and maybe still do I was wrong to break up with you and I was thinking maybe-"
"Hey Audrey"

I turned around and Marcus was the one saying hi to me.

"Hey Marcus what are you…. Is this the thing you had to do before tonight?"
"Yeah and I’m guessing this is what you had to do too"
"Ha-ha yeah I can’t believe-"
"Excuse me we were talking "tony said
"Your times up tony bye"
"But I wasn’t done"
"Well I am so bye"

Tony stood up he looked very angry and stepped towards me so close if I moved I’d brush against his lips he had his hands clinched tight. Marcus grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me behind him placing his self between me and tony. Before they could exchange unpleasantries the librarian came in.

"Take your seats students you know why you’re here each and everyone of you broke one of the rules set at our fine school that your parents paid a small fortune for you to attend so now you will suffer the consequences of being here 8:00 to 2:30 so no talking, horseplay, electronics etc do you understand" the librarian hissed
"Yes ma’am" we all said
"I will be checking on you guys periodically so don’t get smart ideas as if any of you ever had one"

The librarian left and we all just sat in our seats me next to Katie behind us tony and Dawson and at the last table Marcus. We all sat there in silence for about an hour until Katie broke the silence.

"This is so breakfast club" Katie said
"What" Dawson Asked?
"The movie where the five kids get detention and by the end there all friends" I explained
"Oh yeah with that girl from pretty in pink what’s her name" Dawson said
"Molly Ringwald" tony answered
"Yeah, yeah, yeah she was a babe" Dawson replied
"Ewe" me and Katie squealed
"In light of the breakfast club mood lets confess why were in detention"
"Me and Katie are in here because she doesn’t know how to shut up"
"Whatever Audrey okay tony why are you in here"
"I got angry and punched out a window"
"Riggghhhttt creepy okay Dawson why are you in her"
"Pass"
"No passes Dawson"
"Then skip I don’t want to go"
"Fine Marcus why are you in here"
"I was late to class yesterday"
"Because you stopped in the office" I asked
"Yeah"
"Oh I’m so sorry"
"Ain’t no thang shawty"
"Oh so touching gag me" Katie said
"Shut up" I said to her
"Lets play truth or dare" Katie said
"Truth or dare Katie?"
"Yes come on everybody I’ll go first Audrey ask me truth or dare"

Everyone even Marcus gathered in a circle

"Truth or dare" I asked her
"truth"
"Okay Katie do you have a crush on Dawson"
"Audrey your gonna pay for doing this… yes"
"Ok Audrey truth or dare" Katie asked
"Truth"
"fine I know tony wasn’t your first so who really was your first"

Katie gave me a little smirk and tony glared at me and now Marcus was staring at me.

"Paybacks a bitch I guess… uh Katie’s brother was my first"
"What the hell Audrey I thought I was ... i thought i was special"
"And I thought what we had was special but I guess not"
"You lied to me"
"And you broke up with me so I owe you no explanation"
"Okay now that I’ve had my revenge your go Audrey"
"Dawson truth or dare" I asked
"truth"
"Dawson do you have a crush on Katie"
"Yes"
"See Katie I wasn’t trying to embarrass you I was helping you"
"Sorry Audrey" Katie said so I forgave her
"Dawson your turn" I said
"Okay Marcus is it truth or dare"
"Dare" Marcus said
"finally someone with some balls Marcus I-"

Before Dawson could tell Marcus what to do Katie whispered something in his ear. I thought she was just flirting or something.

"Okay Marcus I dare you to kiss ….. Katie but not just a peck 30 seconds I’ll keep count."
"What? Marcus you don’t have to do it" I said
"I’m cool with it" he replied

Katie and Marcus both stood up and walked to each other Marcus bent down and kissed Katie. Marcus wasn’t my boyfriend or anything but watching them made my stomach churn I felt hurt watching them.

"25…26…27…28…29…30"

At the count of 30 they pulled apart and went to their seats.

"Okay Marcus your turn" Katie said

Marcus looked at tony then to me and lastly to Katie

"Okay Katie"
"Yes Marcus" she said in a seductive voice that kind of made me angry I looked at Marcus and he gave her a questioning look
"Truth or dare"
"Truth"
"Did you tell home boy over there to dare me to kiss you"

"No why would I do that how dare you question my morale like that I would never"
"okay breeze it’s your turn"
"Uh-um tony truth or dare"

She walked over and squatted in between tony and Marcus

"dare"
"Okay tony I dare you to kiss Audrey same rules as earlier"
"No way" I protested
"I had to do it" Katie said
"No when did this turn into a game of spin the bottle new dare" I shouted
"No new dare do it tony isn’t complaining so suck it up it’s not like you haven’t done it before"

Me and tony stood as I stared in his eye I stood conflicted here was a guy I hated and loved at the same time tony leaned in and kissed me. Keep my eyes open I wasn’t gonna fall into his trap and kiss him back. Then he opened his eyes and looked to the side I followed his gaze to Marcus he stared at me and tony with an angry look on his face as Katie whispered something in his ear. When tony gazed returned to me he kissed me more passionately and before I knew it I had fell into the trap ….. I kissed him back.
